Helping poker hands

A total of $2,400 was raised for the homeless animals at Animal Friends of the Valleys during the inaugural “Save a Stray” motorcycle poker run Sept. 19. After dropping off donations of dog and cat food, the riders enjoyed a scenic ride throughout northern San Diego County, followed by a barbecue lunch in Old Town Temecula. The event was sponsored by Chopper Gallery and Jul’s Backyard BBQ. Local restaurants and businesses donated raffle prizes. Volunteer Kirsti Peffers organized the event and donated all of the proceeds to the animal shelter. Ride shirts are available for purchase from www.animalfriendsofthevalleys.com.
