When the weather forecaster says, “a chance of rain,” I think we all hold our breath and hope he’s right for a change. It’s hard to know whether to water or not. I guess it’s better safe than sorry.

We’re still looking for volunteers to cook or at least help in the kitchen. If you are interested in helping out, call our kitchen chairman Debbi at (951) 763-1291. And don’t forget to save those pull tabs for Ronald McDonald House. Just turn them in at the bar.

Activities for May (which is National Correct Posture Month) are:

May 4 – Debbi’s Pork Roast, potatoes with gravy, veggies, salad bar, pie ala mode.

May 5 – Kentucky Derby & BBQ Fundraiser $6.50 noon – 6 p.m.

Barbecue ribs, chicken and/or burgers, french fries and more – Karaoke 3 p.m.

May 6 – Tonie’s Ham, eggs to order, home fries, toast, fruit, sweet rolls, juice.

May 9 – Canteen snacks and hors devours potluck.

May 11 – Annie’s Swiss steak, fresh mashed potatoes with gravy, veggies, salad bar, roll, dessert.

May 13 – Mike, Carol, Ann, Chuck, Mary and John’s Customized 4 you Omelets, potatoes, toast, fruit, sweet rolls, OJ.

May 16 – Canteen Snacks and hors devours potluck.

May 18 – Laurie’s Italian pasta with meatballs, vegetables, garlic bread, salad, dessert.

Wednesday Canteen Snacks and hors devours potluck.

Thursday-$1 all beef hotdogs with all the trimmings, 4-7 p.m.

Friday Dinners – 4:30-7 p.m.

Saturday – $1 all beef hot dogs with all the fixings – Canteen opens 3 p.m., Karaoke 3 p.m.

Sunday Breakfast – 8:30-10 a.m.

You don’t have to be a member to enjoy a great meal at Anza VFW Post 1873. Meals are open to all and include coffee, tea and hot chocolate.

Saturday: Canteen Snacks available 3 p.m.

If you were born in May, your birthstone is an emerald, and your flower is the Lily of the Valley.
