Whether you are just entering the wine world or have been collecting and sampling wine for years, there’s always room for a bit more knowledge.

Falkner Winery, located in the heart of the Temecula Valley Wine Country, is just the place to sit back, relax, enjoy camaraderie with others and experience the art of wine tasting, selecting and collecting.

"We are in the business of making and producing fine wines," says proud owner Ray Falkner. "What a better way to be educated in the wine world than to spend an afternoon in an informal, non-intimidating and fun class that’s taught by George Myers, one of the top sommeliers [wine experts] in the country?"

Falkner explains that the "Learning About Wine" tasting classes introduce novices to the basics while offering "seasoned" wine drinkers a more enhanced experience when selecting and purchasing wine for their personal collections.

Participants in the classes are taught how to effectively taste and pair wine with food to achieve the most desired flavor from the wine. Quality of wine is discussed along with how to tell the difference between high-quality and ordinary wines.

"Since we produce all our wines here, George starts from the grape itself, then moves on to the vineyards and production of fine wines," adds Falkner. "Proper terminology in the wine world is used in regards to appearance and taste of wine. That way, individuals Advertisement

discussing wine at tasting events are speaking and understanding the same language."

In 2000, Falkner, who spent many years visiting and gaining knowledge from wineries all over the world, purchased the winery in Temecula with his wife, Loretta.

The Falkners, who reside in San Diego, commute every day and love what they do. Last year they opened The Pinnacle Restaurant, which offers a spectacular view of the valley and vineyards below.

Together with their highly trained staff they have made Falkner Winery a well-known name and sought-after product in many households. The ever-popular wine classes are full and the feedback has been very positive.

"We’ve had many people ask about a second or more advanced class because they enjoyed the first class so much," says Falkner. "Participants get away from their stressful lives, relax with their significant others, make new friends, learn about the world of wine and have a great time doing it. At the same time it’s very rewarding to me to have the opportunity to meet my customers and see the enjoyment they receive while visiting Falkner Winery."

Wine classes are offered the second Saturday of every month from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Price is $35 per person; wine club members receive a discount.

Registration for the "Learning About Wine" tasting classes can be done online at www.falknerwinery.com or by calling (951) 676-8231.
