Story Last Updated : Jul 27th.

Irene Robertson, devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, died July 26, 2008, in Wildomar due to complications following a stroke.

Irene was born November 17, 1923, in Medicine Hat, Alberta, CA. In 1940 she married James Frederick McLellan, who later died of cancer. On November 17, 1966, she married David R. Robertson.

David and Irene lived in Newport Beach and Mission Viejo and were early settlers of Temecula. They moved to Temecula in 1974 and lived on rural land on East Benton Road.

Irene was an organizer of the first Woman’s Club in Temecula and remained very active over 30 years. She became vice president of the Anza District of Woman’s Club Federation. She was an original founder and contributor to the Hemet Valley Library and a member of the California Horseman Association and Garden Club.

She had a keen mind and was excellent in bookkeeping and financial matters. Once she started an activity or project she worked hard and was dedicated to her responsibilities until the job was done.

Irene loved nature, gardening and animals. She traveled extensively with her loving husband, David. She was a marvelous cook and wonderful hostess who loved to entertain whether she was in the galley of the boat, motorhome or in her home. She was a master chef. She loved a good book and in her leisure time you could find her reading.

Irene touched lives among friends and family in a special way. She rests peacefully now.

Irene is survived by loving husband David Robertson, Wildomar; sister Gerry Gorman, Newport Beach; daughter Suzanne Boston, Newport Beach; sons J. Michael McLellan, Newport Beach, and James A. McLellan (JoAnn), San Diego; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
