RAINBOW - A Lake Elsinore woman was seriously injured today in a solo freeway crash in the far northern reaches of San Diego County, authorities reported.

Susan Jacobson, 52, lost control of her 1997 Ford Explorer for unknown reasons while southbound on Interstate 15 in the Rainbow area shortly after 1 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.

The sport utility vehicle struck a guardrail in the center median, then veered across the traffic lanes to the right and struck a tree on the shoulder near Rainbow Valley Boulevard, CHP public affairs Officer Eric Newbury said.

The vehicle then overturned and tumbled down a 40-foot embankment.

Medics airlifted Jacobson to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido for treatment of severe fractures to her neck, ribs and face, Newbury said.

Two southbound lanes on the freeway were closed in the area for about two hours to allow for an investigation and cleanup.

the key word in this article is "SOLO"- meaning, there were no innocent bystanders that were hurt or killed. So no one is going to be upset about this one when no one other than the driver was affected. Hello??! Also, notice the last name "Jacobson".

5. ha ha says :

what a joke. even if this person was in a solo accident and their last name was Hispanic there would be all sorts of racial comments all over the place. "Send them back to Mexico, call immigration do this to that. Come on now. Not everyone that has a Hispanic last name is necessarily illegal but since you all like to put everyone in the same glass whatever. I have a hispanic last name and was born and raised here in San Diego County. Both of my parents were born here and so on and so forth but I still have my pride just like any normal person would. So by the way since she is a women means that could be her married name and her maiden name could have been MEXICAN like you say it

6. wondering WTF says :

Take a story about a woman getting into a horrible accident and turn it into a post about poor exploited mexicans..That's the real joke here. I happened to see the aftermath of this wreck on the side of the Highway and if you did too, you would not be turning her accident into a social/racial commentary.

7. Stop it!! says :

Ha Ha: My ONLY problem with someone who is Mexican, is if they are here illegally in the United States or driving without a license/insurance, or driving drunk. The article does not indicate any of that was going on, so please, stop trying to make this a racial issue. Half my family is Mexican too, and you don't see me crying in my Corona.

Read the article for what it is, a "solo" accident with a woman from Lake Elsinore. I don't really care what her last name is.

I think some people have missed the point of this news report...a woman was seriously injured in a car crash! This could have been any of you. She could have blown a tire, hit junk in the road, had a heart attack or etc. What ever happened...someone was hurt and be glad that her car didn't cause others to be injured too.

You know what bothers me? That different handles like "ha ha" post the same type comments. There are many "honest" posters here who use the same handle, but some like to flood the comments section with the same nonsense under different names. This crash was a "solo act" and if you have driven the roads in Rainbow, you know it's sometimes hazardous, I even have problems at times. The FBVN should go back to their "registration only" for blogs like they had a few years back, keep the comments honest, got way too much "spam" here.

12. uranium says :

Yes Ray, the I-15 is 4 lanes wide and mostly straight through Rainbow but I am not sure how that area is any more hazardous than the rest of I-15. Do you even read the articles?
It sounds like a horrible crash that could happen to anyone at anytime. I hope she's able to recover

uranium: Your right. I stand corrected.

If it makes everyone feel any better, she was probably side swiped by a drunk illegal in a pick up truck with expired plates and a 15 foot stack of old mattresses and wood pallets in the back?
