Pickup truck driver injured after 50 ft. plunge

ROMOLAND - A pickup truck driver was injured today when the truck went off a freeway in Romoland and plunged 50 feet down an embankment, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 2:21 p.m. on the northbound Escondido (215) Freeway, just north of State Route 74, according to the CHP.

A motorist reported seeing the occupant trapped in the vehicle.

Traffic was backed up to Ethanac Road, the CHP reported.

The motorist was taken to a county hospital in Moreno Valley, the CHP reported.
