SAN JACINTO - The Riverside County District Attorney's Office is considering whether to file embezzlement charges against a representative of the Parent Teacher Organization at a San Jacinto elementary school. The sheriff's department conducted an investigation into Amy Hoffarth, 34, of San Jacinto from February through April, then submitted the case to the District Attorney's Office for possible prosecution. No arrests have been made, according to Detective Steve Fredericks DeAnza Elementary School Principal Karen Duncan reported to the school resource officer that there were more than $800 in unauthorized charges and withdrawals from Parent Teacher Organization funds, Fredericks said. Investigators determined that cash was withdrawn from automated teller machines and personal purchases, including jewelry, gasoline and groceries, were made, Fredericks said. Hoffarth could not be reached for comment.
