Tonie Ford

Friday, June 26th, 2009.
Issue 26, Volume 9.

Hooray, it’s summer! Only three more months ’til fall. I’m a spring and fall person. Summer is too dry and hot for me.

"They" said the first and last parts of June would bring rain. Does anyone out there know who "they" are? "They" seem to know something about everything and are usually wrong. Too bad "they" didn’t predict no rain. Wouldn’t mind them being wrong then.

But rain or no rain, we’ll be holding our horseshoe tournament on Saturday, June 27. Signups will start at noon with competition starting at 1. BBQ burgers and hot dogs will be available. Bring your umbrellas, just in case.

Heads up! The Post won’t hold a Friday night dinner on July 3. The Lions will be having their annual Pre-July 4 BBQ, so we want to encourage folks to support that event. However, the bar will be open.

Kitchen news

Dinners on Wednesdays and Fridays are from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday breakfast is served from 8 to 10 a.m. Hot lunches are served on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m.

And I’m still looking for cooks. If you’d like to give it a try, or just help out, please call me at (951) 763-4560.

I’ve postponed my Thanksgiving in July meal until August.

Post information

Post meetings are held the second Saturday of the month at 10 a.m. Men’s Auxiliary meetings are held the third Saturday at 10 a.m.

Ladies’ Auxiliary meetings are usually held the first Saturday at 9 a.m. However, due to the holiday weekend, this month’s meeting will be held on Friday, June 10.

A co-ord meeting will be held July 3 at 10 a.m. All members of the Post and Auxiliaries are invited to attend with ideas and suggestions to make a more successful Post.

If you need more information, please call the Post at (951) 763-4439.

Just for fun

If you were born in July, your flower is the larkspur and your birthstone is the ruby.

In Quitman, GA, you’ll never find out the punch line of one of the oldest jokes in the world because it’s illegal there for a chicken to cross the road.
