I believe one of the most wonderful things in the world is family. In the spirit we are all part of the family of God, and the real us is spirit.

This Father’s Day I was blessed because most of our children called to wish me a happy Father’s Day and our daughter Debra and husband Charlie came up and took us to lunch.

Then on Monday our son Daniel stopped by to wish me a happy Father’s Day and took us to dinner. I was happy to hear from the others by phone.

I hope all fathers had as good Father’s Day as I did. I took some time to remember my father, who has passed on.

Seems we don’t take as much time as we wished we had when they are gone. We need to remember, I guess, we are just passing through.

I hope every day is a good day for all of you.

Happenings

Even after moving to Anza I am still a Lakers fan and I enjoyed watching the Lakers win the NBA playoffs.

I did not like seeing people destroying property and hurting police after they won. One store owner said it cost him thousands of dollars.

The first thing I thought was I am glad I don’t live there. I do not know if the people were stealing and destroying property. I think 15 were arrested. I don’t think people in our area would act like that.

The Lakers parade was much different. Thousands of supporters showed up, filled the stadium and all along the parade route. Television interviews of the fans were very positive. The Lakers have a great team and I hope they can keep them together.

President Obama is facing some very tough situations. First the economy, plus the situation with North Korea and Iran. These are some dangerous times and they affect us even in a rural community like Anza.

In California we are facing 11.5 percent unemployment. When I was in business in Sun Valley I thought seven percent unemployment was high.

I do know that many businesses are down because of the economy and this adds to unemployment.
