Monday, June 29th, 2009. Issue 27, Volume 9. MURRIETA - A heat advisory was issued today for the cities of Banning, Lake Elsinore and Perris, warning residents that temperatures should hover around the century mark through tomorrow. Cool centers in the three cities will not be open because they are only activated by heat warnings, which are issued when temperatures are forecast to soar to 100-plus degrees for three consecutive days. The Riverside County Department of Public Health reminded residents to be mindful of signs of heat distress, such as headaches, dizziness, muscle weakness or cramps and nausea or vomiting, and drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. The DPH also recommends avoiding direct sunlight, closing blinds or curtains to minimize the heat and visiting malls, libraries or restaurants to stay cool. Children, the elderly, disabled persons or animals should not be left inside unattended vehicles.
