SAN JACINTO - A 27-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting a man in a San Jacinto alley was charged today with first-degree murder and is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.

Ray Naldo Salazar, of San Jacinto, also faces a charge of unlawfully having a firearm while being a convicted felon. He was denied bail and jailed in the Southwest Detention Center.

Members of a sheriff's Gang Task Force arrested Salazar on Friday.

The killing of Raymundo Lopez, 20, of San Jacinto, occurred May 17 about 12:20 a.m., in an alley near the 600 block of Mistletoe Avenue, according to sheriff's officials. Another 20-year-old man was wounded.

The suspect eluded detectives when he was spotted May 26 in the 400 block of Athol Avenue but managed to escape capture by running into a residential area, deputies said.

Salazar was convicted of spousal abuse, a felony, in Los Angeles in 2007 and was on probation when the killing occurred.
