Saturday, July 4th, 2009. Issue 27, Volume 9. HEMET - A 65-year-old San Jacinto man was fatally injured today when a motorist in a car apparently failed to see his motorcycle and they collided at an intersection in Hemet, a police corporal said. The crash was reported at 12:48 p.m. at Lyon Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue, said Hemet police Corporal Dan Reinbolt. The motorcyclist, whose name was not released, was taken to Hemet Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, Reinbolt said. The driver of the car, Joy Murray, 82, of Hemet, was badly shaken but was not injured, according to Reinbolt. Murray, who was driving a 1998 Mercury east on Commonwealth toward Lyon, stopped for a stop sign and did not see any traffic approaching, according to Reinbolt. The motorcyclist was northbound on Lyon and did not have a stop sign. It appeared Murray entered the intersection without seeing the motorcyclist, Reinbolt said. She remained at the crash scene and cooperated with investigators. Reinbolt said the collision appeared to be an unfortunate accident and there were no obvious signs in either driver of drug or alcohol intoxication. An investigation of the crash continued. Reinbolt encouraged anyone with information to call contact Hemet police Officer Tim McGinnis at 951-765-2400.
