MURRIETA - An 18-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were behind bars today, suspected of stealing a truck and burglarizing a home in the Menifee area, a police sergeant and jailers said.

Amanda Leigh Stanley, 18, and Scott Jerome Sandman, 46, were arrested Saturday afternoon in Murrieta when the alleged victim followed the vehicle from Menifee to a Murrieta neighborhood near the Escondido (215) Freeway, according to Murrieta police Sgt. Tony Conrad.

Sandman allegedly ran from police in the area of Calle Casablanca and Camino Mancho, Conrad said. Police called in a sheriff's helicopter crew and a tracking dog to find him, Conrad said.

Stanley was arrested in the same neighborhood and found with some methamphetamine, Conrad said.

An investigation revealed that Stanley and the allegedly stolen truck were seen leaving a home burglary in Menifee hours earlier, Conrad said.

Property from the Menifee burglary was found near the stolen truck in Murrieta, Conrad said.

Stanley was locked up today in Banning, held on charges including felony taking a vehicle without owner's consent, possessing a controlled substance, and receiving stolen property.

Sandman was locked up in Murrieta. He was booked on two felony counts of taking a vehicle without owner's consent. Bail for each was listed at $20,000, jailers in Banning and Murrieta said.

how does an 18yr old hook up with a 46yr old with meth to go and steal a vehicle. I mean , i know an 18yr old is considered an adult, but really..? How can you not believe that somehow the 46yr old was the mastermind? too bad the teen's life is now toast.

I have a wife and three little kid's. My daughter is scared to go outside. Teen or not everyone has a free will to choose between right and wrong. You have to live with the choices you make. That truck was taken from our driveway, these criminals know where we live, my family is now living in fear. These criminals stole my truck with three car seats in the back. They took pictures of my kid's out of the truck, they smoked crack in the truck and burned up the seats. I can never put my family in that truck again. Our truck was used to steal from other families. I'm just glad I was able to help catch these criminals, if nothing else they were of the street's for a least one day.

I completely agree with "Victim". Good job in helping catch these people. I am sorry your kids are scared but please tell them that the majority of people out there are good "Law Abiding" people.

To victim: excellent job and getting these criminals! I agree with you that this 18 year old is equally as responsible as the older man- she is old enough to know exactly what she is doing. I am sorry for your pain and fear- I cannot imagine. Thank goodness no one was hurt in this incident (physically). I can understand your family's fear as meth addicts are crazy- I will pray for your dear family.

My son and his family were the victims in this crime. It is sad to see the fear it has caused my daughter in law and my precious grandchildren. I know the Lord will watch over them and protect them, but it is sad when we live in a world were peoples lives are so messed up because they chose to follow such a destructive lifestyle. My heart is saddened by the choices people make that cause others such pain and fear. I know only the Lord can change the hearts and lives of such people, but they need to choose to follow Him. I am grateful my son and his precious family are okay aside from the trama of such a day as they had. I pray the Lord will continue to heal their hearts and minds of this whole ordeal. I love them dearly.

To Victim: I am sorry you had to go through this. Grateful no one got hurt and that you were able to get them off the street. I wasn't implying by any means that the 18 yr old wasn't guilty just commenting on what a waste of human being. I hate drugs and I hate what drugs do to people. Meth causes people to do things that in thier right mind they would not even consider. The unfortunate thing is even off meth, one used, their minds are altered forever. Glad they are off the streets.

Don't be fooled by her "tender" age; Stanley is a hardcore crook.

We had to watch these victims come and get the vehicles and personal stuff that was stolen. The man with his truck had to stand in the heat with his kids for hours on the 4th of July, instead of being able to have a nice holiday with his family. These tweakers and the people that are consistantly being brought into my neighborhood by the renter of this house is ridiculous. nothing has happened to the renter who puts our families in danger. I am angry that she can still live there and this will not be the end for us.
