Issue 28, Volume 9.

Since her role in a ’60s television show, Kathy Garver has performed in movies, on stage and radio, in voiceover animation and audio book narration.

Her experience as an entertainer has brought her a lot of wisdom, which she uses to educate thousands of people through motivational and interactive speeches and presentations.

Garver will be coming to Lake Elsinore this month to debut her new cookbook.

Known for her role as Cissy in the comedy television series "Family Affair," Garver’s new 150-page book is called "The Family Affair Cookbook."

It was co-written by Geoffrey Mark, author of titles like "The First Lady of Song: Ella Fitzgerald for the Record" and "The Lucy Book."

Garver’s Elsinore event includes two inspirational chat sessions.

The "Power of Perseverance" session will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the "Growing Up Hollywood" session will be from 3 to 6 p.m.

Both will take place in the Rebecca’s Garden Tea Room at 201 W. Graham Ave. on Saturday, July 25.

According to Garver, the first session will inspire people to never, never, never give up.

"It will show that people can attain their goals and dreams and persevere, like writing a cookbook," she claimed.

The second session will give insight into Advertisement
what it is like to grow up in Hollywood.

Garver said, "I’ll discuss the pressures that are put on people [who are in the spotlight], like Michael Jackson or Lindsay Lohan…and what Hollywood does to young stars. It will end on an upbeat note."

All who attend will get a chance to ask questions.

"People can expect great fun and lots of information," Garver said.

The actress added that her new cookbook will include unpublished pictures as well as great recipes that she has collected over the years.

"The recipes are foods that were mentioned in ‘Family Affair’ episodes, like Chicken Marengo," Garver explained. "Food was mentioned when something revolved around the kitchen."

The classic television show will be discussed at the event, as the recent release of the series on DVD was another motivation for Garver to finally finish this longtime goal.

She said, "People can expect wonderful food in the Historic Chimes Building."

Everyone will receive a signed book and photos, prize giveaways and have the option to participate in a benefit auction for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Tickets are available at www.rebeccasfoods.com or by calling (951) 471-1740.
