Fire departments are sounding off their sirens to lead the way for holiday cheer that hopes to help underprivileged children in the area.

Public safety crews are working with the community on a common goal to ensure that children in need receive a gift to unwrap this holiday season.

For the last 17 years, CAL FIRE and the Riverside County Fire Department (RCFD), in conjunction with ABC-7, and other local sponsors have collected and distributed toys during their annual Spark of Love Toy Drive.

They are asking citizens to donate new, unwrapped toys or sports equipment, which can be dropped off at every fire station in the county between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Dec. 24. All gifts will be distributed to children of the communities in which they are donated.

Join organizers and volunteers on Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Pedley Metrolink Station at 6001 Pedley Road in Pedley where a rosy-cheeked Santa Clause will arrive on the Toy Express Train as firefighters greet him. The firefighters will be accepting toy donations from community members during this event.
