Issue 03, Volume 14.

MURRIETA - Murrieta police today sought two of three home-invasion robbers.

Jamel Calhoun Gray, 19, a Wildomar resident, was arrested Wednesday night when he returned to a van believed to have been used in the crime, Murrieta police Lt. Dennis Vrooman said.

The crime in the 40000 block of Cartier Street occurred was reported about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, he said.

A 47-year-old woman had just come home from buying groceries, when three men came up behind her and forced her inside at gunpoint, Vrooman said.

The suspects, whose faces were partly covered by bandanas, led the woman upstairs and ransacked the place, he said.

One of two daughters in the home called 911 on via a cellular telephone, and arriving officers spotted the crooks carrying a backpack full of loot as they were coming out of the front Advertisement

door, he said.

The suspects dropped the backpack and a gun and went back inside, Vrooman said, adding that the weapon turned out to be Airsoft gun used to shoot paintballs.

Officers eventually forced their way inside, but the suspects had fled through a back door, he said.

A search of the area turned up some clothing and a van believed to have been used by the robbers, he said. About 11 p.m. as police were processing the crime scene, three males matching the suspects' description attempted to take the van, Vrooman said.

Gray was arrested and booked on suspicion of accessory to robbery, and the other two were released, Vrooman said.

Anyone with more information about the suspects at large were asked to call Detective Scott Montez at (951) 461-6346 or Sgt. Tony Conrad at (951) 461-6309.

Criminals are not the brightest...do I think you would be stupid to commit a crime and then go back for the van. FOR SURE! IF your stupied enought to commit a home invasion robbery with an air soft gun then yes, your stupid enough to go back for the van!

What I don't understand is how people think this is a good idea and trying to ruin it for the rest of us. Read up on Airsplat.com's Safety page to avoid people doing dumb stuff like this.
