The family has been miss... Joseph "Joey" Bryan McStay, 39, his wife, Summer McStay, 32, and their two young boys are missing from their Bonsall home. Authorities distribute "endangered missing" flier pertaining to missing McStay familyThursday, February 25th, 2010 Issue 08, Volume 14.
The flier, describing the family as "endangered missing," is being distributed by sheriff's deputies and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Joseph McStay, 39, his wife Summer McStay, 32, and their sons, Gianni, 4, and Joseph Jr., 3, have not been seen since a family member asked deputies to do a welfare check at their Avocado Vista Lane home on Feb. 4, according to deputies. The family's white 1996 Isuzu Trooper was found four days later, abandoned in San Ysidro. Sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos called the disappearance "out of character." Two dogs were left at the house, he said. No signs of a struggle were found at the home, Brugos said. Joseph Jr. has a noticeable birthmark on his forehead, according to the flier, which was made public by the sheriff's deputies. McStay has tattoos on both shoulders, according to the flier. "We're still recovering phone records and financial records, both personal and business," he said. "We're reviewing border-crossing tapes and following leads from the public and family," Brugos said. Brugos, who has 30 years in law enforcement, said the case was unusual. "Generally we find out the family went to Palm Springs for the weekend, or tragically was involved in murder-suicide," Brugos said. "I don't remember a case where a family of four has disappeared." Relatives of the missing family have created a Web site -- www.McStayFamily.com -- to keep their story before the public. San Diego County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with more information on the McStays' whereabouts was asked to call the Sheriff's Department at (858) 974-2321.
Authorities complete search of house, vehicles of missing family Investigators have tentatively completed searches of the home and two vehicles owned by the McStay family, who family and business associates said have been missing since Feb. 4. The family of four – Joseph McStay, 39, Summer McStay, 32, and sons Gianni, 4, and Joseph "Joey", 3 – were living in a home in the Lake Rancho Viejo development in the Fallbrook/Bonsall area, just east of Interstate 15. "Our team has gone through their house and both vehicles and we don’t have anything new to report," said Lt. Dennis Brugos of the Sheriff’s homicide division. When asked if any valuable information was gleaned from the inspection of the family’s Isuzu Trooper vehicle found in a tow lot late last week near the Mexican border, Brugos said, "There was nothing in it that was suspicious." Brugos said the investigation team is now concentrating on interviewing business associates and is actively working with liaison detectives in Mexico. The Sheriff’s department was asked to make a welfare check on the family after receiving a phone call from McStay’s brother, Michael, who said it was uncharacteristic for his brother not to return his phone calls and be out of touch for two weeks. When authorities made a call at the family home on the evening of Feb. 15, it appeared that something was amiss. The family’s dogs had been left on the premises, but not provided for, and Brugos said, without elaborating that there were other things that concerned law enforcement when reviewing the scene at the couple’s home. Authorities executed a search warrant on Feb. 19 at the family residence, which included authorization to search a pickup truck left on the property. The search at the McStay property encompassed most of the weekend, Brugos said, and included items such as phone records, documents, computer entries, and more. Prior to moving to the Fallbrook/Bonsall area in November 2009, the McStay’s lived in Orange County. Brugos confirmed that Summer McStay was previously known as Lisa Aranda and/or Lisa Martelli. He was uncertain when she changed her first name to "Summer," or if it was done legally. Brugos said her legal maiden name was Aranda, but at times she used her stepfather’s last name of Martelli, although she was never adopted by him.

Detectives search home, truck in missing family case
Shelli DeRobertis Staff Writer
After securing a search warrant on Feb. 19, nearly a dozen investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department and Department of Justice, along with personnel and dogs from the county's search and rescue team, gathered at the 3400 block of Avocado Vista Lane to look for clues that might lead to discovering the whereabouts of the McStay family of four who have been missing since Feb. 4. The investigation inside the McStay's residence began about 10:30 a.m., and no findings had been reported by late afternoon. A mobile command vehicle had been set up near the house and officials said they planned to stay and search until the evening. Crime scene tape was draped around the McStay's house, which is in a neighborhood of two-story homes with manicured lawns. "I've never seen a case like this," said Lt. Dennis Brugos of the Sheriff’s homicide detail as he worked with investigators at the McStay house. Brugos said there is no law against disappearing, but that it "was out of character" for this family not to mention their whereabouts to others. Joseph "Joey" McStay, 39, his wife, Summer McStay, 32, and sons Gianni McStay, Advertisement After the initial search began, officials found the couple's Isuzu Trooper in a tow yard near the Mexican border. That vehicle is currently at the crime lab, Brugos said. Now, officials are looking inside their house for items such as phone records, diaries, documents, and entries made in their computer, Brugos said. Investigators are also looking to determine "if there may have been violence," he said. On a side note, Brugos added that the house was in the process of being remodeled inside. He said the investigation is still in the early stages, and that officials from Orange County are also involved. The McStay family used to live in Orange County and moved to Lake Rancho Viejo Development, east of Interstate 15, in November 2009.

Authorities have launched a search for a missing Bonsall family of four after a welfare check conducted by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department raised concerns. The whereabouts of Joseph "Joey" McStay, 39, his wife, Summer McStay, 32, and sons Gianni McStay, 4, and Joseph Mateo McStay, 3, are being sought by officials. Lt. Dennis Brugos of the Sheriff’s homicide division said family, friends and business associates said the last time any members of the family were seen was on Feb. 4. Concern heightened, Brugos said, when officers visited the family’s home in the 3400 block of Avocado Vista Lane the evening of February 15. "Deputies saw some things that aroused their suspicion; one of which was the fact that the family’s two dogs were there, but no provisions had been make for their care," said Brugos. "That, very quickly, increased the level of concern." When asked why this missing persons’ case was immediately sent to the homicide division, Brugos said, "Because it’s so out of character for an entire family to disappear." The family’s vehicle, an Isuzu Trooper, was discovered afterward in a tow yard near the Mexican border. Tow company workers told officers that the sport utility vehicle had been towed from a parking lot located near the international border. For Brugos, it was another sign of something amiss. "Cars are typically towed from those locations when they are left overnight or longer," said Brugos. "At best it would be considered irresponsible; at worst, something more sinister." Investigators seized the vehicle immediately. "It has been taken to the crime lab for processing," explained Brugos. "In these types of cases, generically, we check with Mexican officials, contact Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), work with the state Department of Justice and see if there has been any action on [the individuals’] credit cards or any cell phone activity." The authorities were originally contacted by Joseph McStay’s brother, Michael, who told officers "it is unusual for my brother not to be in touch with me." "If family members are saying their relatives would never leave without telling them, and business associates say the same, we have to assume something is wrong," said Brugos. "No one could figure out why they were gone. There is certainly no history of them doing that previously." Joseph McStay is said to own Earth Inspired Products, an indoor water feature design business. He is described as a white male with brown hair and eyes, approximately five feet, nine inches tall, and 175 pounds. Summer McStay, Brugos said, appears to be a homemaker and is of Columbian descent with brown hair and eyes, is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, and weighs 115 pounds. The couple has lived in their home in the Lake Rancho Viejo Development, east of Interstate 15, since November 2009. They previously lived in Orange County. Anyone with information on the family’s whereabouts is asked to call Sgt. Dave Martinez at (858) 974-2321 or Crime Stoppers (anonymous tip line) at (888) 580-8477.
Early version BONSALL - Investigators sought today to track down a Bonsall couple and their two young children, who went missing nearly two weeks ago from their 3473 Avocado Vista Lane home. Friends, relatives and business associates of Bonsall residents Joseph and Summer McStay and their sons, 4-year-old Gianni and 3-year-old Joseph Jr., have not seen them since Feb. 4, sheriff's Lt. Dennis Brugos said. A white 1996 Isuzu Trooper owned by the family was found abandoned in San Ysidro, according to news accounts. The McStays' absence came to light Monday evening, after the brother of the elder Joseph McStay requested a welfare check at their Avocado Vista Lane residence. Joseph McStay owns Earth Inspired Products, an indoor fountain and waterfall company. According to the website, McStay has operated the business since 1996 and it is one of the largest selections of hand made nature inspired products available. The family had just moved into their home, according to county records, in November, 2009. "Evidence at the family home suggested that the family had not left on a planned vacation and that the totality of the circumstances surrounding their disappearance was quite out of character for this family," Brugos said. The McStays' dogs were still in the home, and the family apparently had made no arrangements for the animals' care, the lieutenant told reporters. Anyone with information on the McStays' whereabouts was asked to call Sgt. Dave Martinez at the Sheriff's Department at (858) 974-2321. Story will be updated shortly 120 comments

This is very scary and sad. My prayers are with them and their family.
When will see photos of the kids? Will the Sheriffs issue an amber alert?
This is my neighborhood and a nice one at that....how sad. Our prayers are with them and their family.
The wife is of "Columbian" descent ? They probably mean Colombian descent, in other words hispanic. Hope they are found unharmed.
Just to be clear this neighborhood is officially part of Fallbrook (we have a 92028 zipcode). We are NOT part of Bonsall!
Another reason to leave your toilet seat up. At least the dogs would have had water, and might have attracted the neighbors' attention. If the car was found over a week ago abandoned, why didn't anyone from law enforcement try to contact them at their home then?
Do you think you could care more about this family then the address and such. I hope and pray they find this family quick and unharmed. Show some concern for your neighbor's not the damn address. Shame on you.... God Bless this missing family and all those that know them. My prayers are with you..
Gee, could it be those workers coming to the homes looking for work? It wouldn't surprise me.
There ARE photos of the kids on the internet..just google the family...there's even a youtube video of the littlest boy. So sad :((
I live in this neighborhood and yes it is scary cause i live on the same block..... yeah were is the amber alert ?
Heard on the news that the one connection to the border they did have was he went there for business. Sounds to me like he parked there as usual and went over the border with his family, but never returned. Prayers for him and his family. I hope they are found alive.
Amber Alert? Their car was located at the border. If you folks know what car they are now driving around in then please let Sgt. Martinez know, then maybe he could put out that Amber Alert. Prayers are always a good thing... by the way - that area IS Bonsall, according to SANDAG,s master plan mapping. The zip code is for mail delivery purpose. That's like saying those that live on Gopher Canyon Rd are part of the city of Vista.
Kidnapping (and ransom) are still the #1 crimes in mexico. It is STILL a third-world country in the middle of a war! Google "El Paso or Juarez drug wars", and read about all the horrors going on there. read about the guy who got his face sewed on a soccer ball, or the family was that forced to eat soup made of some of their relatives, or the drug gangs who bought 30 minutes of local tv air time to broadcast the torture and executions of the local police force( in a small mexican town) You couldn't pay me enough to go there.
Just to clarify to #13, that area is NOT BONSALL. It is Fallbrook, with a Fallbrook zip code and address. You can look at the SANDAG's master planning map all you want to but it is Fallbrook, not Bonsall. Ask ANYONE!!!
caln8tive, I really think that you are the only one that cares if it is Bonsall or Fallbrook. Give it up, no one care what town you think it is. Stick to the subject
The community is within the Fallbrook Community Planning Groups area plan however that really doesn't matter does it? What matters is that they are missing. I doubt they were captured by workers looking for work, it seems more likely that they went to Mexico on business for the day and something happened to them while they were there or that they were car jacked but I don't think they were taken from their home, that doesn't make sense, especially with the dogs not being harmed (except of course for lack of food and water) hopefully the toilet seats were left up.
#16....I am sticking with the subject. The point is that when this story first broke they first said Bonsall, then they said Valley Center. I makes a difference when citizens are told the wrong info...it's all about where it was. I am totally sorry for those people and all their family. But one needs to know where so in case they see something or hear something they can report it accurately. And it is in my neighborhood...right down the street for me...so yes, IT DOES MATTER!!!!! NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH...we might not officially have it but you can bet all of us that live there in Lake Rancho Viejo watch out for each other. That is why location is so important. Get it now?
What happened to the dogs , that is important
Good possibility there...they go down over the border for business, dont bring their phones b/c of roaming charges, etc. that will apply once in Mexico. SO many people are comfortable going to Mexico, even with everything going on down there b/c they are so close to home and because they have down the TJ trips numerous times w/o incident. I hope this is not what happened, I hope they are NOT in Mexico right now. *prayers*
Toilet seat comment was classic! Statistics prove 99.9% of people in situations such as this are drug/cartel related. Pray for the family, but regular, normal family's don't get kidnapped. Walk the line people!
When they showed the dogs on the news they looked ok, just hungry and probably dehydrated. Hopefully someone has taken them in and they weren't turned over to Animal Control.
Why isn't the SD doing searches for this family??
Caln8tive, You just maybe the dumbest person I have NEVER met.
Prayers go a long long way! This is no laughing, or joking manner. Who the H cares if it's Fallbrook, Bonsall, or even Europe! Please pray for this family! This post comes from someone very near, and dear to some of the memebers of this family. Thank you everyone, Please Pray!
Maybe they had a reason to get the hell out of Dodge. If it was/is foul play, God help them.
First off Caln8tive, we get your point, but we don't care. People from the area knows what street they're talking about. But everyone needs to be on the look out, no matter where they are. I hope this family is okay, and if someone did kidnap them, everyone EVERYWHERE needs to be concerned. Who knows where something like that might happen again. And who knows, maybe they did flee the country... And Erin, I totally agree.
Just for the record, I think that area should be considered Bonsall even if it is not. It just seems for Bonsall like to me. Ok, now that I have settled that big dispute, I must direct a comment to #23 'Get a Clue'. You ask "Why isn't the SD doing searches for this family??" My question to you is, "What makes you think they are not?" I don't believe they would go into Mexico to search because it is a different country (even though it doesn't seem like it sometimes). You are a fool if you don't think the SD has passed on a bunch of information on this to the Mexican police people. That seems to me it would be step one in this deal. I'm pretty sure they figured this out too.
Joseph's brother has the dogs. If it was uncharacteristic for this family to leave, let their cell phones die and not be in contact with any of their family, I would think they would have not waited until Monday at 9 or 10, but have called immediately. I pray for their safe return.
To Cranky: I haven't heard about any searches in the area around their home. Have you? Usually when people go missing (especially 2 little kids) the Sheriffs Dept. searches the area around the home and does helicopter searches. Maybe they have been doing this but the media hasn't mentioned it.
Does anyone know if the dogs are OK? It's terrible about the family too, but if the dogs are OK now then at least that would be something positive in a horrible situation. I am praying for the family, but it seems like they were probably kidnapped at gunpoint or something similar.
I suspect drugs could be involved here.
The Sherriff's are not searching the neighborhood because they believe the family disappeared while in Mexico and they are working with the Mexican police (however I doubt any good will come of that) our law enforcement agencies have no jurisdiction South of the Border. At least this is what I am hearing from a friend in the S.O.
Who gives a crap about what neighborhood or area Joey and his family lived in? And let's put the dogs aside for a bit. There are 4 of God's creatures missing!! Joey was a high school friend of mine; I have known him since 6th grade. Don't assume anything because he is a good guy, always has been! Some of you people need to find something to do rather than sit around and be sideline detectives. Why don't you try praying for this family as opposed to thinking you know what is going on. Or bashing the police. The entire McStay Family could use our prayers right now!
So that we can put the real issue in the spotlight anf forget about fallbrook vs. bonsall: put the address in google maps, it says it is Valley Center.
Everyone who has posted on this site want the same thing for the family to be found safe. I did not know them. But everything I have heard about them and seen in videos tells me they are caring & wonderful people. Let's all continue to pray for them that they come home safely. Attacking each other on this site does no good for anyone. Calling people fools or dumb serves no purpose. Most sites do not allow name calling and personal attacks. I'm surprised this paper does. Everyone here has the same goal for this family to be found safe. Let's concentrate on that! I will continue to pray for the McStay's, their families, and friends.
Julie, I am so sorry for what you and their family are going through right now. They are in my prayers. I am praying for their safe return.
I think Frosty is on to something...kidnapping is happening all over Mexico. That is so scary. It doesn't seem that these folks would leave their house and pets and just walk away. They probably went down to TJ for the day and something went really wrong. Nobody would take their little kids with them on a drug deal. Would they? Doesn't make sense. Can't the police get a photo of who walked across the border the day the car was parked down there? That would be a start.
I live in another state, have never been to that area, the border, or any border. Please tell me why somebody leaves a vehicle at the border if they are going to Mexico? What do you do walk across? Take a bus? What scenario would prompt someone to leave a vehicle there, for any amount of time? Praying for the family here in the southeast.
If you want to visit Mexico, just go to Los Angeles. It looks the same, smells the same and everybody speeks spanish. Also your risking your life bring your family.
Brendabear, yes, you park on the American side of the border and walk across. You can drive if you choose though most dont for a long list of reasons. If Joseph were to have gone to Mexico to buy stuff for business, Im sure he would need his car. So why his car is parked on California side is odd. No matter what scenerio comes up it dosent make sense. that being said... Why is everyone assuming this to be drug related? These are 2 upstanding citizens with no drug history (that we know of). People do go to Mexico for things other than drugs. Leather, Doonery & Burke knock offs, fireworks, silver jewelery, etc. Lets not trash innocent people's reputations...
When I used to go to tj I would park in a paid lot n walk over it's much safer then to bring a car over there their car however was found parked in the lot of a strip mall so hopefully they can dig up some video or something. I honestly hope the husband had nothing to do with this n panicked n fled to Mexico. I think there us much more to this story such as the food that was left on the counter indicates they probably did not go anywhere planned
It is normal for persons visiting the Mexico city across the border at the south end of freeway I5 to park here and walk across the pedestrian walkway. American car insurance is not valid in Mexico, and there are other complications. Sometimes the wait to pass through the border comming back from Mexico is hours long. Other persons who go there can describe the nearby tourist attractions, but this will let you know someone read your reasonable question.
What if the man's business failed, finances in dire straits, thought he could make some easy money dealing drugs but ran into the wrong people who he might have crosse? They might find their bodies in some slum in Mexico. Sad really but when people try to make an easy buck, things happen. Lie with dogs, catch fleas.
We've listed the family here on our forum for Missing Persons http://z10.invisionfree.com/usedtobedoe/index.php?showtopic=56214&st=0&#entry11248033
Julie at #34 says it best. Let's hope it is a voluntary missing situation. If it is - what a watse of money and resources, but let them do their jobs and discover the truth. I'm done with this story... And, if your a praying man/woman then keep that going.
post #44..dont speculate..all this"what ifs.." what if they were just out minding their own business....Whats scary is this could happen to ANYONE
I just talked to a friend who's 5th grade student had a grandmother from Fallbrook that was abducted, taken to Mexico and held for ransom. The outcome was not good. The student's grandmother was also a business owner. I believe this happened a couple years ago, but very odd that both parties lived in Fallbrook. Lord have mercy on this family and shed light on where they are.
I knew summer's mother my sister was her best friend for years. Summer AKA Lisa has a sister and a brother. Where are they?? It has been a while since we heard from Blanca, summers mother. We are all very very sad to that this has happened I am so afraid for them all.
Thank you, Bingo #47. Couldn't agree more!!
I don't know these people nor do I live anywhere near the area...but frankly being an animal lover, I find it hard to believe that they would have walked out voluntarily and not made provisions for their dogs to be taken care of in their absence. It may sound silly to some but to those of us who love our pets as family, there is no situation of our own choosing that would make us leave them behind. Articles I've read say Summer considered the oldest dog, Bear, to be her 1st child. That tells me the level of commitment they had for their pets so this, in my opinion, looks like some sort of abduction and my gut feeling is not that it's drug related at all. I fear it may be some sort of case of mistaken identity...maybe the abductors were looking for the previous owners of the home, possibly, since it had gone into foreclosure and the McStays had purchased it from the bank. JMO
I still think they went down to the border to do business and never came back. They had planned on coming back home that day. God bless them and their family.
Thank you Porchlight! and Thank you Bingo #47
I think whatever happened to them happened at the house. The dogs were in the yard, his truck in the driveway was unlocked, and food was on the counter. Plus I don't believe anyone would take their two little kids across the border or even near the border like San Ysidro. Prayers for the McStay's and their loved ones.
Well, maybe they went there to do some work with his business got delayed,Sometimes that happens, Always think positive,When you start thinking bad things, that's what happens, Hopefully they are fine,or maybe they are on Vacation, that's what I'm thinking, until they are found alive be cool think positive. And pray to god for everyone to be Well, & happy..
Is the car in near the border a red herring? Could something have happened closer to home and then the perpetrator(s) have driven the car to the border? Like many of the commenters, I live in this area. It is definitely the haves and the have nots around here. Because of the increase in crime in the last couple of years, many people are no longer hiring help because they don't want strangers casing their homes. Did this family unknowingly hire the wrong stranger? I can't imagine anyone hurting those two beautiful kids, whatever the situation, anyone capable of that is truly evil.
From what I read I would fear something happened to them in their own community. Robbery most likely (maybe random, maybe not). You could walk up to a family in a parking lot during the commotion of loading items and kids in the car. If someone put a gun to your child's head you would give them all kinds of pin numbers and financial info. Get in and drive...do whatever they told you to. There are numerous situations where someone could take the whole family hostage. I'm afraid they were robbed and then left someplace. Most likely not alive. I think they found their vehicle near the border because who ever is responsible for this fled to Mexico afterwards. Drove their car close enough to the border and then walked across. That's why nothing was strange at their house and the dogs were just left out back like they went to the store or something close. They just went out for a little while. The perpetrator fled to Mexico afterwards. I sure hope I'm completely wrong though.
Where oh where is this family?? This family is definitely NOT on vacation. Something very sinister has happened here. Right now there is a high probability that there is a completely evil person/persons in Fallbrook. Terrifying!!
i think because the woman was hispanic they got in trouble in mexico why dont they look into airport flights from tj would be a start
oodle - She was not hispanic!! Nor is there any evidence they ever went to Mexico.
I haven't seen or heard anything in the news that said food was left out or that the truck was unlocked, however if this is true perhaps they should check out who was doing the remodel on the home, were there workers inside the house? You just never know who you are hiring now days, even if they have good refs themselves they could unknowingly hire people with criminal records to help because they work cheap.
Fact is, nobody knows except the missing people what happened. All this speculation about something sinister happening isn't doing anyone any good including the immediate family. So instead of going on and on about your worst fears, keep them in your prayers and hope for the best. Why on earth would being Hispanic get you in trouble in Mexico ? While living in Mexico for over ten years, I have personally witnessed many a disrespectful, loudmouth, know-it-all, flashing a lot of cash gringo, who embarrassed the heck out of me. Even though, no bad would ever come from the majority of the people that live there...
Heard on the news that his business partner "Chase" is a person of interest- I guess he has a tattered past and was referred to as a "con"....
I didn't want to make myself sound like I was close to the family. I went to a small school in Texas with Joey for a number of years and recently got back in contact through Classmates or Facebook or somehow. We had chatted a few times. So although, I appreicate you adding me into your thoughts Pink, I have not been that close to Joey, but he has always been considered a friend. He always was a good guy and this saddens me along with several of our other classmates that are praying for a safe return.
mom of lots.... Our you reffering to chase as a person of intrest?
Yes, I am referring to Chase as a person of interest as are the police. I believe he has an arrest history. Does this mean he has done something to this family? Absolutely not. But he is the only person known that is closely involved with the McStay family that has a criminal history. A worth looking into when there are zero other leads. He is also the first person that knew they were missing, although not suprising since he was in business with Joseph. ![]()
Another investigative point of interest is the videotape of the lot where the McStay's car was first parked (if available). This would answer so many questions and put the investigation on the right path.
Unfortunately it would make more sense if it were someone that the family knew rather then just something random, it doesn't bode well in either case. So sad.
So true, Pink. Either way whether it was random or someone they knew it's still very, very sad. Every day that goes by with no real answers the worse it looks.
Wondering if theyve looked at a possible home invasion from gangs that frequent the casinos in that area??The proximity is really close....just another thought..this happened in the daytime? Why havent we heard any interviews from the neighbors? /
To wondering: I've thought the same thing. I'm curious too, why we haven't heard from from the neighbors. Maybe because the media isn't that interested in talking to them?
It doesn't really sound like a home invasion, usually people don't disappear during those. A daily paper is reporting that a federal agency/task force is now involved in the search.
Which daily paper??
I really hope they can get videotape of when their vehicle was dropped at the lot!! Then authorities will know where to start looking.....did the family make it into Mexico or not?
HI everyone so excited Tim Miller from Texas EquuSearch is Flying in tomorrow to help with the search. They are in need of donations as they are tapped out felt they needed to help this family. I heard on the radio that they went to McDonalds, ate some McNuggets, and liked them so much they McStayed. I know, poor taste. That is what I though the last time I tried a McNugget. In all seriousness, and I apologize for my last, it sure seems like these folks were running from something. Who knows what they are running from, but I bet they will eventually turn up no worse for the wear. Either way, they will have one hell of a story to tell, and I bet they will get payed for it too. At least there were no balloon sightings in the area. That being said, feel free to flame away!
The thing is..this happened(supposedly) during the day..each and every neighbor needs to THINK..THINK what they SAW that day..maybe it didnt seem inportant then but SOMEONE had to have seen something.Thats a nice area..people do NOT just disappear...GET involved people..Please
D- excellent!
Cranky-Your joke is in very BAD taste to say the least. Also, I don't believe this family ran away. Or went to TJ for the day. Nor do I believe this family is going to show up no worse for the wear.
Cranky... you obviously have hoof in mouth desease.
The media MUST keep this front page..when time passes people tend to forget..this family NEEDS to be found.
if there not in columbia they are deep down into mexico the wife is hispanic and can talk mexican .I BET SHE HAS SOME RELATIVES THEY MET DOWN THERE IN MEXICO AND THEY ARE STAYING WITH THEM.THEY HAVE TO BE RUNNING FROM SOMETHING. ![]()
Anonymous// read the news she was columbian descent meaning she is hispanic ill bet you they skipped town flew to columbia where her relatives are.and they didnt want anyone to know where they went..
oodle please, please try to think before you speak. Mrs McStay is of "Columbian" ancestry, she has a Colombian grandmother, she is a third generation American. I am of Irish ancestry, I am a 4th generation American, that DOES NOT mean that if I wanted to hide from something I would go to Ireland!! Second of all it isn't called speaking Mexican it is called speaking Spanish (each South American country has it's own version of that dialect.) Please don't cause someone reading your comments to say "you can't fix stupid."
Anyone who left food on the counter was not intending to leave to go anywhere, not even across the border. That is a two-hour round trip, without even getting out of the car to cross the border. I don't think that is logical. The scary part is, that then indicates that they were taken from their own home forcibly, possibly dumped somewhere, so the perpetrator could use their car to get to the border. Not a good scenario. Whomever brought up the idea of looking into the problems of the prior owner of the house is spot on. This could all be a case of mistaken identity and caused by financial dealings of the prior owner. Who knows though. I just know I am praying for answers for their family.
Whatever the cause for the dissappearence of the McStay family, I hope they are found unharmed. Speculating and conjuring up theories as to what happened to this family, does no one any good. Help the McStay family by praying for them, and their loved ones.
My thoughts are with the family. I don't see this as something for everyone to be alerted about. ie: it's not going to happen to your family.
We can't forget about this family. They bought a home in our community, shopped in our stores, ate in our restaurants. Don't we owe them anything? I keep thinking about their excitement of moving to Fallbrook, it haunts me actually. That and thinking about their two little kids, just 3 and 4 years old causes me to have many sleepless nights.
JK- this is the appropriate and correct forum for those of us that are speculating and conjuring up theories. The McStay family has put up a beautiful website where people can leave their condolences to the family, including prayer.
Clarification: It's random and not like the family was kidnapped by strangers who are out to get your family. They must've clearly been targeted or fled on their own. Use common sense and if you see something out of the ordinary dial 911 or for non-emergencies: 760-451-3100. The Fallbrook SDSO's substation has jurisdiction of Lake Rancho Viejo.
Phase 1, are you in law enforcement? Or do you know someone in law enforcement that's given you information the rest of us don't have?
Phase 1: the 2 conclusions you came up with do not make sense- 1) it's random and 2) it's not like the family was kidnapped by strangers.....ok, if the family was kidnapped by strangers, THEN it WOULD be random. I do NOT believe this is random. I believe they were targeted. Local residents would need to be worried IF this was random!
Sorry everyone. I typed too quick. Overall, I guess what I mean is that they probably left for reasons we just don't understand. It's not normal to just leave like that. It's uncommon. We all just need to use common sense and if we see something out of the ordinary call for help. Sorry for ruffling feathers. Random is the wrong word and in my digust of some of the earlier posts I incorrectly posted myself.
Thank you Phase 1 for clarifying! :)
When are searches going to be done for this family???????????? ![]()
When was the last time & where were the McStay's last seen in Fallbrook? At a grocery store, gas station? Does anyone know???
Someone reported that the car was found without car seats. Either they took the carseats with them by hand into Mexico or the children were placed into the car without them. The parents would not have taken the children on a 70 mile drive without carseats. And most likely, carseats were already installed in both cars. So does anybody know anything about this carseat subject? It tells me that they might have them with them, which might mean they were fleeing from some sort of threat.
From all I have read, numerous reports, the car was found WITH the carseats in it. Joseph had a lunch date that day with a "worker" and it appears the family had just gone grocery shopping at the time of their disappearance although cops havent said if it was Summer and Joseph or just one of them who went to the grocery store. Cell phones died on the 5th.
The latest report is that they are possibly visible on a video tape entering Mexico together, walking across the border. Hopefully they were fleeing some sort of harm and are OK. I'm hoping, hoping, hoping...
Concerned for McStay's, It was reported the car seats were found in the car.
Per the North County Times: "Four people who may be the Fallbrook family missing for more than a month have been spotted on a Feb. 8 surveillance video at the U.S. Mexico border, a San Diego Sheriff's homicide sergeant said Friday." Seems as though they may have walked across the boarder. More to come I am sure
And your point is, 'Get a Clue'? I haven't a clue what you're inferring. Enlighten us peasants please...
the video shows nothing other than 1 male, 1 female and 2 children- you cannot tell who it is- it could be anyone! The family said they were unable to say if it was them.
another venue to consider..this home is on the same "path" as the one taken by the person responsible for Ambers disappearance..the McStays live off the 15/76 close to the Pala road..wish the story would make front page again..can not imagine they would be in mexico. Why havent we heard up dates as to has anyone used their ATM cards...whats going on?Please update and keep this family FRONT PAGE..i feel someone neglected important clues and tips(sniffing dogs last August paid by ambers gramma)dont overlook anything here..PLEASE
To Justwondering: The police don't release that kind of information so as not to compromise the investigation. You can best believe they have made the connection you posted and quite assuredly they are investigating things far beyond what they are sharing. Giving away their information helps the criminals.
yes please make this front page again and God help this family return safe this is another very sad story we need to find them
To Pessimistic: "My point" was that the poster, Concerned For The McStay's stated the car was found without the car seats, and I said the car was located in San Ysidro WITH the car seats inside the car. What's YOUR point?
There is a man who helps police find missing persons through 'dreams' he has. I don't know much about him, but apparently he has an interesting track record. He does not sense violence or worse and feels they are likely safe. Granted, this doesn't mean very much, but it's nice to see glimpses of hope anyway.
So the house was left in a condition that appeared they did not plan to leave or be gone long, the vehicle being parked...if this was the family on the tape, has anyone checked to see if either parent had an addiction or was a child sick? Maybe they went for medication of some sort and things went sour over the border. Isn't there some sort of special insurance required for vehicles crossing the border? I just hope they are eventually found safe...prayers to those affected...
IF THIS FAMILY WAS FROM LA JOLLA OR RANCHO SANTA FE THE STORY WOULD STILL BE IN THE NEWS. I PRAY FOR THEIR SAFE RETURN.
Old Fallbrooker- My thoughts exactly!! Where are the McStay's? I'm worried sick for them and praying for their families.
Some reports say there was an older son that they left. Does anyone know about that?
Curious- yes, Joseph McStay has a teenage son from a previous marriage here.
I still think about this family all the time. What happened to them? Where are they? They've been gone a long time now. I wish the Sheriff's Dept. would give us updates on this case.
my prayers goes out to both families
Anybody that wants to find them can check "The Corral", just north of Ensenada.
This is so tragic. It's been 6 months and no leads that I have heard of in the news. The bank is foreclosing on their home. My heartfelt sorrow goes out to Summer's family and her husband's family. Summer is one of a kind and I will have hope until she and her beautiful family are found.
All suspicious fingers point to "Summer" or whatever name, identity, age she so chooses. |
