A Temecula business with an art-centered core has designed a group of fictitious characters who put a new spin on the current girl-power trend.

As a vehicle for strong character development and new opportunities for the young and impressionable, Victorious Girls is developing its own mutual benefit club called the Victorious Girls Society.

Young girls in the southwest Riverside County region can call themselves Victorious Girls.

"When girls band together for the right reasons, they often won’t let their friends go astray and get lost in an otherwise directionless crowd of similar-aged youth," according to VG founder Christalyn Brooks of Temecula.

Brooks owns and operates Make a Difference (MAD) studios, a public art facility in Temecula. She is looking for teens, ages 13 to 16, to become the faces for her VG brand.

According to the VG Internet site, the group was founded in fall 2003 – rooted in strong moral values.

"We’re centralizing on Jr. High school age girls looking to go to high school," said Brooks in a recent telephone interview. "We want to give them the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the girls younger than themselves, so they can be leaders and not followers."

With the help of five middle school-aged young women, "Topaz," "Clarity," "Jade," "Sparkle" and "Jem" will come alive and realistically play a public role as they overcome the troubles they either encounter or create with victory by relying on their solid rock of virtues, values and respect for themselves and for one another.

There will be an intense summer training schedule. At minimum, the girls will attend events in the area once a month. On occasion, there may be art shows or local trade shows in Los Angeles or San Diego.

Depending on which VG is being represented, each will gain a multitude of experiences from MAD studio and other resources including music, art and dance instruction, Hollywood red carpet event tips from stylists, creative opportunities to meet with Nickelodean artist Wincat Alcala, and they will participate in other training activities.

"Young girls, in many ways, face challenges of their own that the Victorious Girls are not afraid to address," according to Brooks.

The purpose of the Victorious Girls brand is to give young women encouragement to be strong, independent, and develop their own unique personalities with the kind of class it takes to conquer real-world obstacles.

"Each girl who embarks on Victorious Girls is challenged personally to be the tangible Victorious Girl while walking in victory from a good choice or a choice to make a change for the Advertisement

better," read a statement on the Web site.

The VG brand also has a limited edition of fictional story books and workbook releases every month. The stories bring the fictional VG characters to life in book form as they’re stories put them in real-world situations, and through conflict-resolution, the five friends come out with a fresh-winning outlook on life.

"Clarity," "Topaz," "Jade," "Sparkle," and "Jem," each have unique personalities.

With sunshine-colored hair and sky-blue eyes, "Clarity" is the peacemaker of the group. She’s smart, but her downfall is being a perfectionist. Sometimes, she can be too hard on herself.

"Topaz" has brown eyes and sand-colored hair. She usually steps into the leadership role for the group when needed. She is often confident on the outside, but inside, her self-esteem can be weak. She hopes to be a famous singer when she grows up.

"Jade" has licorice black hair and dark eyes that can look very serious. She is Asian-American and loves her Japanese culture. She is a disciplined martial arts student. She tends to be a loner but wants to be a teacher some day.

"Sparkle" has coffee-colored hair and dark eyes as well. She is funny and outgoing and not afraid to speak her mind. Friends can always count on her for the truth. She is generous but often has expectations. She tends to be bossy.

"Jem" has chocolate brown hair and the eyes to match. She is quiet but dresses loud. Although she puts herself as the center of attention, this often embarrasses her. Her constructive criticism can be vain, but she means well. She likes to design clothes and write.

And, those five characters will be known for using their individual talents to benefit their whole group. They may be able to show the youth of southwest Riverside County what it means to work towards a common goal.

"Values are an essential anchor to the heart of each character," the VG description continued on the site. "While the majority of doll lines in today’s market focus on fashion, makeup and boyfriends, Victorious Girls reinforce the positive values and interests that keep a young girls spirit alive as well as the attitudes that keep healthy relationships strong. Victorious Girls values represent kindness, respect, honesty, accountability, goals, and self-control to name a few."

Auditions will be held before summer. For additional information about VG, visit www.victoriousgirls.com.

The Victorious Girls motto is, "Stepping out on what is right!"
