Energy efficient appliance rebate program to begin

Friday, March 5th, 2010
Issue 09, Volume 10.

Has anyone been asking, "When do I get my bailout?"

Here’s a way to get a large check in the mail after buying home appliances.

Anza Electric Cooperative wants to let their customers know about an upcoming rebate program.

As a part of the multibillion dollar American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the California Energy Commission is rolling out their State Energy Efficient Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP).

This program allocates $35.2 million in onetime rebates for California residents that purchase certain new appliances beginning on April 22.

There are three specific appliances covered by the program – refrigerators, Advertisement

clothes washers, and room air conditioners.

According to SEEARP information, the rebates are:

• Eligible refrigerators – $200 rebate

• Eligible washing machines – $100 rebate

• Eligible room air conditioners – $50 rebate

According to published information, "The Energy Commission will provide rebates to California residential consumers who purchase eligible home appliances during the rebate period and recycle their old appliance."

The appliances must also conform to certain capacity limitations and conform to specific Energy Star efficiency standards.

Also, contact the Anza Electric Cooperative office at (951)763-4333 for more information.
