Welding torch sparks blaze in San Jacinto

SAN JACINTO - A welding torch sparked a blaze that scorched the attic of a 1,200-square-foot duplex unit in San Jacinto today, a fire official said.

The 9:35 a.m. fire at 413 Evans St. was quickly extinguished before it could spread, said Cal Fire's Cheri Patterson.

No one was injured in the fire, which caused about $500 in damage, Patterson said.
