FALLBROOK - Officials from United States Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton have announced that military units will be firing high-explosive munitions into the Whiskey and Zulu impact areas on Saturday, March 20 as part of a training exercise.

Resulting noise can be expected in the area from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. that day.

Officials said depending on atmospheric conditions, the sound of the firing may be amplified and heard up to as much as 50 miles away.

Oh lord,

Here we go again with the argument on should they, should they not do this, and how it makes all that noise and how it makes my collection of little hummel figurines shake, it scares my cats, my home that I bought right next to the base last year but no one told me the base was there and they do this all the time conversation. Last time it went to 122 post, lets see if anyone changed their minds on anything.

I live right next to Camp Pendleton in the hills North of Fallbrook and I am happy to have the base there. If not for them I would be looking at a bunch of concrete and houses.. I love the view and the open space. The occasional noise is small price to pay for the beautiful open countryside.

Your right Dan, they should never practice and save the money. That way when we send 19 and 20 year olds into battle overseas so they can not be ready and properly trained. What a genius you are.

Practice away! As a former realtor tho', the noise should have been disclosed by your agent or the listing agent. You should have read your paperwork better, I'm sure it's in there or you can sue the pants off of your agent, the listing agent and the seller.
Guys at USMC I thank you all for fighting for my family's freedom!

Darn, it's after 3pm and I haven't heard one 'boom'. I always look forward to the High explosives...my kids love to gauge how loud one was compared to the one before it.

I love thunder storms as well...call me weird.

I say shut down the base and turn over the property to developers or the city. Relocate the base south along the border and see them "Mexicans" running for cover during bombing practice. We can change the Whiskey and Zulu impact area names to Corona, Tacate and Tequila.

Pendleton's been there longer than most people that live around it. Some people must have had a greedy Real Estate agent.
