On June 9, 2010 several residents in Murrieta received a detailed anonymous letter sent to them individually via U.S. mail. The letter was not mailed to Tovashal elementary school which is located a few hundred yards from the homes on these streets, but the school was mentioned in the letter. A few residents contacted the Murrieta Police Department to report the incident later that evening. Because of the proximity to Tovashal elementary school, the Murrieta Valley Unified School District made notification this morning to the parents of the students by phone and e-mail as a precautionary effort through their Connect Ed communication system.

The author of the letter identifies themselves as a sex offender who was angered at a concerted effort by protesters near Tovashal elementary school which ultimately caused the voluntary relocation of a registered sex offender to move out of the city last month. The letter Advertisement

identifies several residents who spearheaded the effort to lawfully pressure the registered sex offender to relocate.

The letter is essentially a manifesto where the anonymous author mentions specific violent acts which should be supported by certain factions of society to defend the perceived injustices of convicted sex offenders and child molesters to live anywhere they want with fewer or no societal restrictions. The author laments the existing laws restricting sex offenders, including the residential proximity restrictions to schools and parks.

Because of the information contained in the letter, the Murrieta Police Department has staffed additional officers for the protection of the area residents. Additional officers have also been assigned to Tovashal Elementary School until the school year ends.

The Murrieta Police Department has solicited the assistance of regional and federal law enforcement agencies to assist in the investigation and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information or knows the identification of the person(s) who authored the letter is asked to call the Murrieta Police Department at (951) 696-3615.

Just because the letter states that it came from a sex offender, doesn't mean that it did.

Lee Ann. Amen. We could help the California budget by carrying out sentences now rather than 20 years from now. If at all.For all those who side with the author of the letter, if you feel so strongly about the authors claims, then you do not mind if he or she lives with you at your expense. O is it just the usual rhetoric from the mouth only and never doing anything toback their views up.

I think sex offenders should all be placed in a prison so they could just rape each other.

Linda is right when she says that just because the letter states that it came from a sex offender, it doesn't mean that it did. It would be a clever idea to send a letter saying it was from a sex offender to get folks even more riled up about the issue, wouldn't it? It sounds like there is a current dispute going on in Murrieta about where a sex offender lives and the neighbors want him out. Don't get me wrong - I feel for them - but I'm saying that the letter may be a ruse and there appears to be motive to send such a letter.

Not only are they allowed to live, but they only do a few years because of overcrowding. So a 10 year sentence could go down to 3.
I once went on a tour of Atascadero State Hospital, which used to be a psychiatric hospital but now houses sexual predators of children. Why do you ask are they not in a regular prison? Well they would get killed by the "regular" prisoners who do not roll with child molesters. So they made that old hospital in a beautiufully equipped refuge for the molesters of children. OH let me tell you, the best of Tv rooms, great cells if you want to call them that, but they are mostly left to wander around whereever they want.
They have their own government, yep President on down, AND their own offices!!! They have a wonderful Movie theater and just a great nice looking place.
I was shocked at how normal most of these men looked, it was scary. I was also shocked they just get to go wherever they want and just have to be in for a headcount or some such thing.
These men committed horrible crimes on someones child, on an innocent child, and as my aunt explained(who held a high ranking position there) she knew all these guys, cause they go in and out all the time. She would name them, how many times they had been in there and how many children they had molested.
It is sick all of it. Why these men are put in there to "protect" them from the "regular" criminals is bull, and to live in such luxury seriously. Offices, Tv rooms, library, big and small ones, game rooms, fantastic gym, beautiful green grounds, it was unbelieveable.
Oh and the gayer ones kissing and making out in the hallways and no one stopping them.

They need to be put in a regular prison, end of discussion. Atascadero made back in a substance abuse hospital, and psychiatric as it was meant to be many years ago. To help mentally ill people, or people with addictions.

WHY DONT GIVE THEM DEAD PENALTY,IF THE LAW DO THIS TO EVERY ONE WHO DISOBEY THE LAWS AND DID NO RESPECT THE EVERYONES LIFE,THIS KIND OF PEOPLE DESERVE IT,THIS KIND OF PENALTY WILL STOP A LOT OF CRIMES LIKE THE LITTLE GIRL IN MORENO VALLEY [NORMA ANGELICA LOPEZ]SHE WAS A INNOCENT VICTIM IF THE OFFENDERS SEE THE LAWS IS APPLYING DEAD PENALTY FOR THE SEX OFFENDERS IAM REALLY SURE THEY WILL BE AFRAID,AND THINK TWICE BEFORE THEY COMITE THAT KIND OF CRIMES ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN.WHY ARE WASTING MONEY ON THIS KIND OF PEOPLE,IF THEY ARE OFFENDERS THEY MUST TO PAY WITH HIS LIFE.

As an adult who was molested for several years by a neighbor when i was a child you would think I would agree with you all.
But I do not. For I'd say 85% of the molesters out there and sexual predators it is a sickness, mental and chemical.
I have had to live with this my entire life. Talked to many therapist and read many studies and articles etc. I truly believe that for most its a sickness and they need help.
I think one way to reduce incidences is to make it less of stigma for someone who is having thoughts about molestation, rape etc to be able to come forward and ask for help.
Similar to how Alchoholics can. Alchoholics used to be a stigma and no body sought help.
Now you can and be proud that you got sober and clean.
Again I was a victim and I think we need to try to help people before they cross the line, and if they do cross the line there needs to be some way to help them not do it again. A way to root out the real evil rapist and child molesters from the ones who have a true mental/chemical problem.
And the true evil ones need to punished to the fullest extent.
