TEMECULA – Hobby Lobby Stores, a privately held national retail chain of arts and crafts stores, is getting ready to open its doors in Modesto, Merced, Rancho Cucamonga, and Temecula. Construction is under way at all four locations, with scheduled openings throughout October. Hobby Lobby hopes to hire about 35 – 40 employees at each location, paying $12 per hour for full time, and $8.50 per hour for part-time associates. Dates, times, and locations, and where employment applications will be accepted, will be posted on the companys website, and in the local newspapers employment section.

"The reception we have received from community leaders from the time of our first announcement to now has been nothing short of enthusiastic," stated John Schumacher, Assistant Vice President of Advertising.

He added, "A Hobby Lobby store at each of these locations contributes to increased foot traffic, generates sales tax, and provides a much-needed shopping variety with exceptional selection and value, all while beautifying an otherwise depreciated facility.

Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, OK, started as an outgrowth of Greco Products, a miniature picture-frames company founded in a garage by David Green in 1970. Today, Hobby Lobby has 490 stores across the nation that average 55,000 square feet in size. This major Oklahoma City-based private corporation offers more than 65,000 crafting and home decor products in its stores. Departments include floral, fabric, needlework, picture framing, baskets, home accents, arts and crafts, wear-able art, jewelry and scrap-booking supplies. Store hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and all Hobby Lobby stores are closed on Sunday.

I got acquainted with Hobby Lobby in Grapevine TX while visiting. The best craft store you could ever hope for. I am truly hoping they will build one in Orange County CA since I have to make a day's trip to get what I need. Their own brand of "I Luv this Yarn" is the best. For Christmas, Birthdays or Mom's Day, I tell my kids all I want is a Hobby Lobby gift card.
