TEMECULA – Students living in Temecula and in the surrounding Southwest Riverside County are able to receive education from Cal State University San Marcos at the Temecula campus (CSUSM-T) located on Margarita Road. Providing public higher education beyond community college, CSUSM-T will be giving insight into the university’s programs and degrees offered at the Feb. 11 Open House.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees will be given guided tours of the campus, opportunities to speak with academic advisors and program directors, and meet the university’s mascot, Crash the Cougar. Food and drinks from Bitchin’ Burger and Flippin’ Pizza will be offered at the event, with live remote broadcasts from local radio stations K-FROG 92.9 FM, KGGI 99.1 FM, and Katy-The Mix 101.3 FM playing throughout.

A special feature will be included in the event with a 2012 Ford Fiesta car raffle, courtesy of Heller Ford, raising funds for CSUSM athletic scholarships. Local music legend, Jon Laskin, and his jazz band are also set to perform at the event. Laskin is slated to teach a Performance Jazz Band class at the Temecula campus beginning in June.

CSUSM-T offers degree and certificate programs that are non-impacted along with rolling enrollment that allows students to enroll at any time.

"Rolling enrollment refers to the fact that we evaluate student applications on a monthly basis and students are accepted year-round," stated Laura Segall. "The start date for each program follows a regular academic term schedule. When students are accepted, they are admitted for the next available term. All undergraduate degree programs are currently designed for students with two years or less needed to complete the degree."

of the degree and certificate programs offered include a BS in Business Administration, MBA; BS in Kinesiology/Health Sciences; Accelerated BS in Nursing; MS in Nursing; and certificates in HR Management and Digital Arts. Lifelong Learning personal enrichment courses are available on campus for adults 50 years and older.

With the current enrollment at 200 full-time students, the availability of rolling enrollment, and the acceptance of transfer students – CSUSM-T recently partnered with MSJC to increase the transfer rate by providing a clear pathway for transfer admission to the campus – there is no doubt that the number of enrolled students will continue to increase.

Established in 2008, and moved to its current location at the former Sparkman school in 2010, CSUSM-T can accommodate 500 full-time students in its 15,000 square foot campus. The building embodies eight classrooms, two mock hospital rooms, a biology lab, a distance learning center, a student lounge, and faculty offices.

"Students have access to state-of-the-art coursework and training labs as well as world-class professors right here in downtown Temecula," stated Suzanne Lingold, Associate Dean of CSUSM at Temecula, in a press release. "This is the best of both worlds for Temecula-area students. Since inception, we have recorded an encouraging 97% graduation rate for degree students."

"The benefit of CSUSM at Temecula is that students living or working in the Inland Empire can earn a degree from Cal State University San Marcos right in their backyard," shared Segall.

CSUSM-T is located at 43890 Margarita Road in Temecula.
