Police: 'Drunk' Runs Stop at 120 MPH, Passenger Killed

Sunday, March 11th, 2012
Issue 10, Volume 16.

RIVERSIDE - A man riding inside a car, driven by an alleged drunken driver in a street race at over 120 miles per hour, was killed in a crash today in Riverside, police said.

Ruben Terriquez was killed in the crash of the 1994 Ford Mustang driven by the allegedly drunken racer: Jesus Gamez. Both men were identified as 18- year-old Riverside residents.

Gamez was allegedly racing some sort of silver sedan southbound on Mitchell Avenue shortly after 1 a.m. The driver apparently ran a stop sign Advertisement

at Norwood Avenue, and the speeding Mustang shoved a parked 2005 Honda Accord into a utility pole, said Riverside police Sgt. Dan Reeves.

"Both occupants had to be extricated from the vehicle by Riverside Fire Department personnel," Reeves said. "They were transported to Riverside Community Hospital for treatment and the passenger succumbed to his injuries during treatment."

Gamez suffered non-life threatening injuries, while the silver sedan left the scene after the crash, Reeves said.

Riverside police were investigating and asked anyone with information to call (951) 826-8723.

Wonder how much the hospital and doctors bills were, and lets take a guess at the odds that us taxpayers are covering it? Any takers? I suggest the offender have to work for the county for free until the bills are payed back as part of his sentencing when it goes to court. He'll probably have to work for twenty years to pay it off, but doesnt bother me a bit. Why should anyone feel sorry for him?

Wow is all I can say..... The reality is a tragic death occurred , the driver may be charged for the death of his friend , this he will have to live with for the rest of his life. Drinking while getting behind the wheel of a car is a terrible choice , tragedy happens ,loved ones are lost, and no one can change this . And for Reality checker lets hope that you are never in a position to need help, Our tax money goes for many things I dont agree with but , bills for Drs., hospitals etc. you hopefully would want the treatment to save your loved ones life regardless of being able to pay for it or not.
