The two hikers were found in Murray Canyon by rangers for the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Tribe. As the rangers gave first aid, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Palm Desert station were dispatched to the scene at 1:26 p.m. Saturday to assist them, according to a department statement. One hiker, a 43-year-old man who was described as a foreign national by the Coroner's Office, was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics rushed the second to an area hospital with severe signs of dehydration, He was listed in critical condition.
