the man was struck in the number three lane of northbound I-215, in which the big rig was traveling 20 to 25 mph, Carapia said.

The man was walking in a southerly direction on northbound I-215 when he inexplicably bolted in front of the 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer driven by Kevin Robertson, of Lake Jackson, Texas, Carapia said.

The man struck the right side of the rig's hood and right rear view mirror of the truck, Carapia said.

The collision was under investigation.
