This appears to be another case of the victim not wearing a seat belt.

It is very unlikely that someone will be ejected from a vehicle while wearing a seat belt.

I searched this article as our family was on our way home Sat night when we passed emergency vehicles & a vehicle on the embankment. We prayed for the victims, fearing a loss of life! My heart is saddened for your loss, especially so young. I will continue to pray that the person(s) responsible are revealed & justice served! To the Vavao Family you love so hard and strong. I am deeply sorry for the loss of Paul to your family. I can only judge by what I witness of Paul...Smiling Face, and affectionate loving amazing Uncle always ready for a hug and smile. Everybody says Paul is their brother I know but his brothers Kawika, Chris&Martin he loved you guys beyond that shone thru. He loved and respected his mom and dad Tom&Sheli I hope you all don't doubt that because we seen it. Lastly why are all the newspaper articles but only stating the SUV that struck Paul LEFT THE SCENE!!!! That seems to me to be a bit important reporters!

If the people that saw him laying in the street blocked traffic he would might of lived also amd the heartless person that hit him if he/she would of stopped and gave him much needed aid he might of lived also, this greiveing family doesnt need your heartless comments about him wearing a seatbelt, if it was your son, brother cousin friend, husband or father of your children Im sure u wouldnt say well he should have had a seatbelt on. Come on people. My fiance was killed in a car accident and the seatbelt trapped him in the car and broke his neck. Have a little compassion and keep your heartless comments to yourself. Im so sad to hear the way he passed away, he didnt deserve that!! He was a caring guy and he will be missed very much by many people ever since i heard the news i cant stop crying :_( My heart goes out to the vavao family they are such a close family and i cant imagine how they are feeling right now. Saw pic of you on facebook. Googled the name and read the story about your accident. So sorry. It's my bday today on the 14th of Feb Valentines day and it saddens me to know your not with your loved ones. RIP Paul Vavao.

It's so hard to believe this happened. Its been years since I'd seen you guys but even knowing someone I've known leaving this world is unbelievable. I always thought ' it would never happen to me or my friends' i see everyday the loss everyone has every day for you.. you're seriously loved and missed by your loved ones. May your daughter grow well and strong with your blood and know her father was a great person
