LOS ANGELES - San Diego civic leader and businessman Vincent Mudd is the newest member of the board of directors of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

Mudd represents the San Diego County Water Authority on Metropolitan's 37-member board. He succeeds Lynne L. Heidel, who had served on the Metropolitan board since July 2010.

Mudd is president and chief executive officer of San Diego Office Interiors, a firm he established in 1994 with his wife, Cathy, that includes LEED-accredited architects, planners and interior designers.

Mudd also teaches an Extended Studies course on sustainable design and construction principles and is a licensed general contractorHe has been involved in numerous civic endeavors. . Advertisement

Mudd is the incoming chairman of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp., chairs San Diego's Citizen's Fiscal Sustainability Task Force and serves on the board of directors of San Diego State University's Campanile Foundation.

He previously served on the board of the State Compensation Insurance Fund and is the immediate past-chairman of the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, a cooperative of 26 cities and water agencies serving nearly 19 million people in six counties, imports water from the Colorado River and Northern California to supplement local supplies. The MWD also helps its members to develop increased water conservation, recycling, storage and other resource-management programs.
