San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC) understands that entering into the real world isn’t always the easiest transition. Most fear the idea of having to leave for college, being miles away from home. Therefore, SJVC has established campuses in locations that are underserved, so that students don’t have to move cities away just to attend class. With their first campus opening in Visalia in 1977, they now have 13 campuses throughout California. The Temecula campus opened its doors to the public on July 5, 2011. The campus, offering small and more personalized classes, has since drawn multiple students seeking a higher education closer to home. Students can choose from a wide variety of majors offered at SJVC. "Our [Temecula] campus offers healing careers, medical assisting, medical office, pharmacy technician, respiratory therapy, and business," said Robyn Whiles, campus director of the Advertisement Other SJVC campuses offer a wider variety as they have been established for a longer period of time and include nursing, PA, dental hygienist, veterinary technician, computer courses, aviation mechanic, and much more. Class sizes at SJVC have a capacity limit of 24 students, but the Temecula campus average is 10 students per class. This ensures the most productive way to provide learning to students as professors are able to give more detailed lessons pertaining to students’ needs. "We are small and offer students a more one-on-one personalized, concerned attention to success," said Whiles, commenting on the differences between a private and public college. Other variations include individualized tutoring, a personal relationship between instructors and students, attention to the professional aspect of career choices, and the instruction through mock interviews, preparing a student for every aspect of the career world. "Success is measured in many ways," said Whiles. "I personally feel the majority [of students at SJVC] are successful. I think every student grows after attending our campus. They have the opportunity to network with many professionals in many situations so they grow in confidence, skills, and professionalism." San Joaquin Valley College, Temecula is located at 27270 Madison Avenue, Suite 103.
