Walking tour of Old Town Temecula to detail city’s history, Nov. 17

TEMECULA – Begin your weekend with a historical docent guided tour of Old Town Temecula and feel the early 1900’s come to life. Temecula has a long, colorful and interesting history, despite the fact that the City did not have a traffic light until the mid-1980’s.

Hear colorful stories and events from the past including the fact that Temecula business owner Joe Winkels entertained legends Jack Dempsey, Jack Sharkey and Fatty Arbuckle at the Ramona Inn. Learn about Temecula’s first bank and its daring bank Advertisement

robbery along with who the city’s most famous author is. Visit the oldest landmarks and learn about the most intriguing local characters.

The tour departs from the Temecula Valley Museum at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, with docent Bob Ulrey. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
