MURRIETA - A fundraiser will be held today for the benefit of a 3- year-old boy rescued from a burning Murrieta apartment where his mother was discovered murdered.

A Murrieta Chick-fil-A restaurant plans to donate 20 percent of all earnings from evening sales to a trust fund set up for the youngster. The event, which Murrieta police officials helped organize, will be held at the franchise at 24794 Madison Ave. starting at 5 p.m.

Fire crews were summoned to apartment V-103 at the Waterstone Apartments in the 24800 block of Hancock Avenue around 7 a.m. on Halloween morning to extinguish a small blaze, police said.

While working their way through the smoke-filled unit, firefighters found the body of 23-year-old Shanae Christina Wesley, the apparent victim of a homicide, police said.

the fire and was rescued from the fire by a neighbor," said Lt. Tony Conrad. "He was treated after the incident and has been released from a local hospital in good condition."

The youngster is under the care of his extended family, authorities said.

Three days after Wesley's death, investigators arrested her boyfriend, Marquise Denzell McGlown, 22, of Hemet, for alleged parole violations.

"McGlown is considered to be the primary suspect in the death of Ms. Wesley," Conrad said.

No charges have yet been filed in the case. McGlown has a 2008 conviction for felony burglary and exhibiting a dangerous weapon, for which he served more than a year in prison.

The trust account established for Wesley's son is at BBVA Compass Bank, 40780 California Oaks Road. Donations can be made to "MPOA" in care of account No. 6702017503.
