Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Sex with 14-Year-old Corona Boy

RIVERSIDE - A 43-year-old Arizona man who had sexual relations with a 14-year-old Corona boy of whom he took pornographic pictures was sentenced today to 12 years in federal prison.

Michael Killala of Peoria, Ariz., pleaded guilty in August to two counts of possessing child pornography.

U.S. District Court Judge Virginia Phillips in Riverside imposed a sentence that was seven months less than what the U.S. Attorney's Office wanted but nine months more than what had been recommended by the U.S. Probation Office.

According to prosecutors, Killala met the 14-year-old victim via the Internet in December and arranged for them to meet in Corona.

Killala drove from Arizona, took the youth to a secluded location and performed oral sex on him, according to court documents.

Killala arranged for a second sexual encounter in January, taking the victim to an Ontario motel, where the former Big Brother performed oral and anal sex on the teenager Advertisement

after getting him drunk on vodka, documents stated.

Killala photographed the activity and loaded the images onto his laptop computer, prosecutors said.

When the boy returned home, he told his mother what had transpired.

Killala was arrested that day at his motel room, where investigators seized his computer -- on which more than 30 still images of child pornography were discovered -- and 12 child pornographic videos, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

An investigation revealed the victim and Killala had traded more than 3,000 text messages and that the defendant had allegedly begun a relationship with another teenage boy.

According to court records, the victim suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and is likely to require therapy well into adulthood.

Killala was originally charged with crossing state lines with the intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, but that felony count was dropped in preference to the child pornography allegations under the plea agreement.

I don't know if 12 years is enough time.

Its not enough time especially when you consider he will be out much sooner and then living down the street from other children. I believe 40 years without the possibility of parole is more appropriate.

40 years isn't enough. Hang him with a rope from a tree. That would be long enough.

I guess in a few years these creeps will only get Probation. What is wrong with California?
