PERRIS - A 25-year-old man suspected of shooting another man during a confrontation at a Perris home was behind bars today.

Jason Brito surrendered to Riverside County sheriff's deputies on Sunday night after the alleged attack in the 200 block of Tahoe Street.

According to Sgt. Glenn Williams, deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of a possible assault and discovered the victim wounded from a gunshot.

[ Murrieta Volkswagen ] not released, was taken to Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, where he remains in stable condition, Williams said.

Brito walked into the sheriff's Perris station a short time later and surrendered without incident, the sergeant said.

He didn't disclose whether the suspect made any admissions, or what the motive for the shooting might have been.

Brito was being held at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside. Bail information wasn't immediately available.
