MURRIETA (CNS) - A man who was injured during a predawn Christmas Day scuffle with residents in a Murrieta neighborhood died from cardiac arrest, the coroners' office reported.

Anthony Norman, 21, died at the Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar after the fight in the 39900 block of Candy Apple Way, according to the Riverside County Coroner's Office.

Norman was initially taken to the hospital for injuries but was pronounced dead nearly an hour after dispatchers received a call today about the disturbance at 12:36 a.m.

[ Murrieta Volkswagen ] knocked on a series of doors during a walk up and down Candy Apple Way, which prompted one resident to go outside and see what was going on, Murrieta police Lt. Tony Conrad said.

A struggle between the resident and Norman followed. At some point, a second resident was involved as Norman was being restrained long enough for officers to arrive, Conrad said.

One resident who struggled with Norman was treated and released for unspecified injuries. No one was arrested as an investigation by police is ongoing, Conrad said.
