Enrique Medel, 34, of San Jacinto was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of stolen goods and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. Bail information was not immediately available. According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. David Haar, witnesses spotted Medel walking in the 300 block of Evans Street around 11:30 a.m., randomly attempting to open car doors and called the sheriff's department. Deputies arrived a short time later and located Medel, who was arrested after the patrolmen discovered he was "in possession of numerous pieces of stolen mail from several different victims in the area," Haar said. Haar didn't state whether the purloined letters and other mail was immediately returned or seized as evidence. 1 comments
