15-year-old runaway arrested for burglary

LAKE ELSINORE - (SHERIFF PRESS RELEASE) On Friday, January 11, 2013, at approximately 3:37 PM, a resident in the 31600 block of Saddle Ridge Drive arrived home and discovered an unknown subject at the residence, and the rear door to the kitchen damaged. The homeowner called Sheriff's Dispatch as the suspect fled through the back yard, and over the back fence. Subsequent investigation confirmed a burglary had occurred at the location.

Officers responded to the area and a perimeter was established with a police K-9 and air support also responding to the location. The suspect was seen in the hills behind Saddle Ridge Drive, a foot pursuit ensued, and the suspect was eventually taken into custody.

The suspect was in possession of property stolen from the Saddle Ridge address, along with property stolen from another burglary that occurred in the 31600 block of Boulder Vista Drive.

The suspect's identity will not be released because he is a 15-year-old juvenile that was reported as a runaway on 12-25-2012. The suspect was arrested for two counts of burglary, and was subsequently transported to the Riverside County Juvenile Hall in Temecula. The property stolen in the burglaries were returned to the respective home owners.
