According to campus officials, a surge of applications to UCR for admission to classes beginning in September dovetailed with a record high number of prospective students -- 174,767 -- applying throughout the University of California system. Applications from prospective incoming freshmen to UCR totaled 33,809, a 13 percent increase compared to 2012 and Advertisement Officials said the balance of the applications -- 8,369 -- were from prospective transfer students. "The numbers show that UC Riverside continues to grow as a campus of choice," said Emily Engelschall, UCR's acting director of undergraduate admissions. Students will begin receiving word in March whether they've been accepted. According to the UC Office of the President, the number of applications from all ethnic groups grew this year, but Hispanics comprised the largest portion of freshman applicants, about 32 percent. 0 comments Be the first to share your opinion on this article! |
