RIVERSIDE - Rain fell in parts of Riverside County this morning as a low pressure system moved south off the California coast, and forecasters expect rain to continue throughout the week.

Cooler weather and clouds are expected in western Riverside County and southwestern San Bernardino County today, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters expected more rain this afternoon and Friday as the low pressure system moves across northern Baja California and the most southern reaches of California.

"Dynamics to help support shower development across southwest California are strongest though this morning and then again late Friday through early Saturday," according to the NWS.

afternoon into evening could drop from a half-inch up to an inch of rain over a six-hour period.

Areas bordering Los Angeles County should see somewhat greater amounts of rainfall this morning compared to areas to the south and east, but southern areas should see more rain Friday and early Saturday, according to the NWS.

Lighter amounts, mainly near the mountains, could fall as a colder system approaches from the northwest late Saturday through early Sunday. Gusty winds in the mountains and deserts were also expected.

The showers should decrease late Saturday through early Sunday, but more rain along and west of the mountains is expected through Monday night.
