Vista Murrieta High School is at it again, hosting its tenth annual Golf Tournament and Fundraiser for the baseball program. President’s Day – which is on Monday, Feb. 18 – will be the designated day that the Bronco’s are inviting all those that would like to support them to come out and participate in a fun day of golf which includes contests, prizes, raffles and dinner. The Redhawk Golf Course, which is ranked seventh best among California’s Public Golf Courses, has once again partnered up with the Bronco baseball program to assure a thriving event as well.  

"Last year was very successful, we had lots of golfers and everyone enjoyed the great weather, awesome course conditions and day of competition with friends," said Craig Johns, who has once again taken on the task of helping set up the fundraiser. Craig’s son, Gavin, is a sophomore and is currently set to play on the varsity squad for a second straight season.

Fundraising is a critical piece to high school and youth sports. The concept for this tournament is to have fun, partner with the local Temecula and Murrieta communities, and to have a productive day of fundraising to help support the 50 VMHS Bronco baseball players and staff.

In the weeks leading up to the event, the players will be taking a day off from practice and making their way around Temecula and Murrieta getting the word out about this event with hopes to fill the tournament and gather much needed sponsorships and auction items.  

This year the feature prize will be that of a brand new BMW from BMW of Murrieta for the first golfer to make a hole in one on the signature par 3 hole # 8. This hole requires golfers to decide on the perfect club for the distance as well as avoid the picturesque water that surrounds this medium-sized undulating green. If you hit the ball on the short side of the green you will most likely trickle off into the water hazard.  

There are a few ways to get involved: gather up a foursome and play, sponsor a hole and receive recognition, or make a cash or product donation to support the auction and raffle.

Of course, the Bronco baseball program won’t be offended if you do all three.
