LAKE ELSINORE - A young man allegedly drove drunk and lost control of his vehicle today in Lake Elsinore, resulting in a rollover crash that left him and four passengers injured, authorities said.

According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Patrick Chavez, 18-year-old Eduardo Barba was southbound in the 200 block of Chaney Street at high speed when he allowed his car to leave the roadway about 12:30 a.m.

Deputies arrived moments later to find the suspect and his four passengers injured -- one of them, a 17-year-old girl, seriously, according to the sergeant.

Deputies immediately noticed that Barba was displaying signs of intoxication, Chavez alleged.

He said the suspect and victims were transported to a hospital for treatment.

"Out-of-custody charges will be filed against Barba for driving under the influence and causing injury," Chavez said.
