PERRIS - Three motorists were arrested for alleged drunken driving during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in Perris that ended early today, a sheriff's sergeant said.

Deputies also arrested three people for misdemeanor warrants as the checkpoint began operations Friday night at the Ramona Expressway and Brennan Drive.

Six sobriety tests were performed, 40 motorists with suspended licenses or not being licensed were cited and 13 cars were impounded for about a month, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Robert Novak said.

Novak said 1,161 vehicles passed through and 105 of them were screened.
