Deputies went to the 31100 block of Tecumseh Court around 6:10 p.m. Monday after the boy called authorities to report that he and his mother had been attacked by Aaron Graves inside their home, said Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Curt Harris. When deputies arrived, Graves barricaded himself inside the home and threatened to assault anyone who approached him, he said. Deputies entered the home through a rear patio door, but Graves refused to drop his weapons and surrender, Harris said. He was then zapped with stun guns, but they had no effect, prompting deputies to shoot him with a pepper ball device, he said. The suspect was momentarily disabled, but deputies were still not able to take him into custody, according to Harris, who said deputies then unleashed a police dog that Graves tried to hit with a hammer. While Graves was engaged with the dog, deputies moved in and took him into custody, he said. Two deputies suffered minor injuries during the encounter, according to Harris. "Subsequent examination of Graves indicated he was under the influence of a controlled substance," Harris said. Paramedics treated the woman and boy at the scene for minor injuries, he said. Graves was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries and, once discharged, was booked at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta, Harris said. He was facing possible charges of assault with a deadly weapon, willfully harming a child, resisting arrest and removal of a telephone or electrical line, according to sheriff's online jail Advertisement Graves was being held in lieu of $35,00 bail with a court appearance scheduled for Friday in Murrieta, according to the sheriff's department.
