Nachtmann wins Supreme Grand Champion at Southern California Fair

Menifee 12-year-old Alexis Nachtmann won Supreme Grand Champion honors at the Southern California Fairís junior poultry show.

Nachtmann and her 7-year-old sister took chickens, ducks, and turkeys to the Oct. 5-14, 2012, Southern California Fair at the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, and Nachtmann also showed two pigs. †

Tiffany Nachtmann won 29 awards overall while Alexis Nachtmann won 28. Alexis Nachtmannís White Pekin duck earned Supreme Grand Champion of the approximately 175 birds shown while Tiffany Nachtmannís SCCL (single comb clean legged) White Leghorn won reserve champion. †

Tiffany Nachtmann had champion or reserve champion honors in nine categories while Alexis Nachtmann was the champion or Advertisement

reserve champion in eight categories.

Alexis Nachtmann also took first place in showmanship in her market turkeyís class and first place in her weight class with her Blue Butt pig.

The Southern California fair was the seventh for Alexis Nachtmann and the third for Tiffany Nachtmann. Although Tiffany Nachtmann started showing poultry when she was five, there is a minimum age of nine to show pigs. Alexis Nachtmann started showing pigs once she qualified, so the 2012 fair was her fourth with the swine.

Their mother, Michelle Nachtmann, is a Perris Panthers 4-H Club leader. Alexis Nachtmann is a junior leader for poultry in that chapter.
