PERRIS – Sophomore Tristan Hunter scored 37 points for the Perris Panthers in the 80-63 victory over Elsinore on Feb. 5. Hunter was in seventh grade when the Tigers began their 39-game league win streak.

Despite an eight-point second quarter and a 10-point fourth quarter by Deven Riley, the Tigers were unable to overcome the 26-12 second quarter run by the Panthers.

Hunter scored 16 of those points; he had 21 in the first half.

"Perris was well prepared," said Elsinore co-Head Coach Rick Wolter. "We came out cold and couldn’t recover."

"Home court makes a big difference," said Perris Head Coach Elzie Landers. "We fed off of our crowd and we did a better job of finishing at the rim."

Tyler Cooper added 12 points and seven rebounds for Perris; Elishua Jackson added 10 points. Riley ended with 23 points for Elsinore.

Perris – despite a dismal shooting night (25 percent) – went on to beat Temescal Canyon 42-41 the following Thursday and ended up co-Champions of the Sunbelt League with Elsinore.
