Issue 07, Volume 17.

LAKE ELSINORE - A former Lake Elsinore city councilman was beaten to death inside his home, and no arrests have been made, a sheriff's sergeant said today.

Sheriff's deputies raced to the 1000 block of Dolly Drive after receiving a call at 5:38 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 about the discovery of George Alongi, 77.

Paramedics tried reviving Alongi, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero said.

It was not immediately disclosed who discovered Alongi, or how long he had been dead inside his home, Riverside sheriff's Deputy Myling Bordeau told City News Service.

Detectives reported that Alongi suffered traumatic injuries on his body, but did not specify a cause of death. An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday, Buompensiero said.

No information about possible suspects has been made available.

Ummm my grandfather was not 77 he would have been on the 22nd. And don't say he was beaten when nothing has been disclosed about the cause of his death.

Thank you, his granddaughter

Dear grandaughter George was my uncle and I totally agree with you. We don't need rumors, lies or suppositions. We do need some true facts though.

He was a good man- passionate about Elsinore, and I believe had a lot more common sense and judgment about city issues than most of his colleagues on the council. I did not know him personally, but spoke with him in his official capacity at times about different issues. He was straightforward, yet always friendly. Every place should have someone like him.
