MENIFEE - Sheriff's deputies are expected to keep an eye out for drunken drivers in Menifee through a sobriety checkpoint Friday night, Feb. 22 through Saturday morning, Feb. 23, according to authorities.

Deputies plan to operate the checkpoint Friday night until the wee hours of the morning the next day at an undisclosed location, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Sergio Rodriguez.

Drunken driving crashes fall by an average of 20 percent when well-publicized sobriety checkpoints are done often enough, Rodriguez said.

Why do you tell us there will be a check point in Menifee? Wouldn't people just avoid Menifee now? Or is that what you want?
