RIVERSIDE - Riverside County Sheriff's Department Deputy Eric Robinson was named today as Mothers Against Drunk Driving's 2012 "Top Arresting Officer in Riverside County" for arresting 306 suspected drunken drivers during the year.

Robinson, assigned to the Moreno Valley Station, was among a number of law enforcement officials praised during the annual Riverside County Law Enforcement Recognition and DUI Training Seminar, held at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium downtown. Around 300 people attended the event.

"The officers recognized have made huge sacrifices in their lives to become the top in the field of traffic safety and enforcement," said Silas Miers, MADD's California program manager.

[ Carrington Home Loans ] collisions are the number one killer of law enforcement officers in our nation, they may be victims themselves.

"They have seen firsthand the tragedies and devastation that drunk driving crashes have caused and they have set out to help protect the community from that devastation. For that, we honor them."

MADD also saluted the Riverside County Avoid the 30 task force for its contributions. The task force, comprised of 30 local and state law enforcement agencies that operate in the county, conducts saturation patrols, staffs sobriety checkpoints and carries out other operations at regular intervals throughout the year.

The next Avoid campaign is scheduled on St. Patrick's Day, March 17.
