TEMECULA – By this time of the year most people have either forgotten or given up on their New Year’s resolution. While most people focus on something they believe they can achieve Tim Sweeney, 48, has aimed for something everyone has said is crazy.

Sweeney’s New Year’s resolution is to get every man, woman, and child in Temecula to become registered organ donors before he dies from the terminal illness he has. Considering the current population of Temecula is more than 100,000 people, it is almost impossible that one man could accomplish this, but the City of Temecula has already begun helping him accomplish that goal.

The City of Temecula will be presenting a series of monthly shows starting at The Mercantile Theatre, known as The Merc, starring Tim Sweeney. While everyone seems to be trying to sing and dance their way into reality show fame he will be taking a very different route.

Sweeney will be doing a series of unique theatre-based, real life comical story telling, fireside chat shows that have already captured people’s attention. His first two shows were not only packed with people from Temecula and the surrounding cities but other people traveled for hours to see the show. The series is set to begin on March 1.

Sweeney, who has mentored thousands of music artists, film makers, actors and book authors over the last 30 years, was encouraged by well-known music artist Sherry Williams who booked the first two shows and made him do them.

Williams was friends with Temecula Community Theatre Manager Bruce Beers who passed away in 2011.

an organ donor himself and his organ donation helped save the lives of 63 people.

Sweeney creates an entirely new show for each performance and jokes with everyone that they have to come to see it because it could "literally be his last show."

Sweeney believes thousands of people who are waiting on the organ donor list are needlessly dying because state lawmakers, governors, US Congress members, and the President are ignoring his request that would save the vast majority of people on the list.

According to Sweeney, all they have to do is make it a requirement that every doctor, hospital, or health care provider ask their patients if they are registered organ donors. If they are not and would like to be, they should be helped to register right then and there.

"This would add millions of people to the list and dramatically help those people who are needlessly dying," stated Sweeney.

Sweeney’s new show on Friday, March 1, at 7 p.m. is entitled, "Strange Relationships with a Green Beer Chaser" and follows Sweeney’s quest to help him find the answers to two of life’s most burning questions: "Why do we continue to find ourselves in relationships with the strangest people?" And, "Why does everyone claim to be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day?"

Tickets for the show are $20 and include a copy of Sweeney’s book, "Getting What You Want Out of Life." Ticket purchases also help support a family with a terminally ill parent while raising awareness for organ donation, stated Sweeney.

As one of thousands of musicians, singer/songwriters, authors and entertainers Tim has worked with (we call our tribe Sweeneyites) over the years, I have experienced first hand the light that he shines and shares with others. He inspires and motivates, encourages and gently prods when needed.
I have never seen or heard him complain about the cards he has been dealt. And.... Many times he has proven the doctors wrong and beat the odds again and again. If this is his dream....let's help him achieve it. After all, he has helped so many of us achieve ours.

I encourage everyone who reads this to show up and join Tim in his latest incredible adventure..... Getting all of Temecula to sign up to be organ donors.

If anyone can do it Tim Sweeney, the "miracle man" can do it! In my "day job" as a nurse in a busy ER I understand all too well, the need for more people to be aware of the donor program and what an amazing and beautiful gift it can be. The ability to do something positive in a difficult situation can be a healer for all.

Bravo Tim and thank you for all you do!
