A grand opening event was held this past Saturday, Feb. 23, for Brookfield Homes' housing development at Big Sky - a Menifee neighborhood in the master-planned community of Audie Murphy Ranch.

Located at the west end of Menifee near Canyon Lake, Brookfield Homes unveiled three professionally interior-designed model homes along Buckboard Lane in Big Sky. Ranging from 2,790-3,830 square feet, these spacious one- and two-story homes with three to six bedrooms were introduced with prices starting at $300,000.

Guests who attended the event took part in an introductory ribbon-cutting ceremony to start the showcase. Pancakes were served along with a balloon twisting artist present for children. Country music radio station K-FROG was also on hand with a live broadcast, providing music for all who attended. They hosted a special Carrie Underwood ticket give-away with the winner announced at the end of the event.

Sales staff dressed in blue Brookfield Homes shirts were readily available throughout the model homes' showcase to help guests and future home buyers with any questions or concerns they may have about the new homes and community.

The new master-planned community of Audie Murphy Ranch (named after Audie Murphy, who is one of the most decorated American soldiers in WWII) comes after the completion of the conveniently widened and realignment project of Newport Road at the Canyon Lake and Menifee city border.

Future recreational plans in the community include a sports park, private recreational center for residents, and three other park and picnic areas. Included in development of the sports park is a highly anticipated skate park.

Regarding the skate park, the Menifee council member who spearheaded the project, Darcy Kuenzi, said, "We need more healthy activities for our youth to participate in and there is a high demand for a skate park, and that is my overall goal."

One middle school site and an elementary school site is planned as well in the Audie Murphy Ranch community.
